did I offend you with my post? Sheesh didn't know hf was this soft.

I'm offended that you're offended. This is hockey good sir where name calling is as common as coaches challenge.

Johnny hockey is a midget, it's a compliment because of how good he is

He leads his team in goals (10), assists (18), points (28), GWG (4), and +/- (+4).

That last stat is the most impressive. +4 on a team with the worst differential in the league (-26). He's also 2nd in the league in GWG, on a team with only 12 wins, and trails only Kane, Benn, and Seguin for the league ES scoring lead.

Let me know when I'm allowed to gloat.

You can gloat

Question for flame fans honestly, does he make monohan better? Cus every time I watch, monohan just ends up being gifted goals from Johnny hockey with tap in. Johnny Santa just gifting everybody down there that little punk

Of course he makes Monahan better. Just as Hall makes Draisaitl better.

Oh he definitely makes Monahan better. Monahan has that knack to just know where to go on the ice, but needs that guy who can get the puck to him

Brilliant player is Johnny, but, let's be honest. Comparing him to the leading point scorer of this year and last year before he got injured is putting too much expectations on him. Stylistic, sure. Points wise, I think Gaudreau's peak won't be as high but will be very steady over many years (PPG for 7+ years). JMO

Comparing a 22 year old Gaudreau to a 27 year old Kane is kind of pointless. There's nothing decisively saying a 22YO Johnny isn't as good as a 22YO Kane, though.

I think if you look at both of them at age 22 - assuming Gaudreau has a close to ppg season, it's very close.

The only edge I would give to Kane at that age is the fact that he's had a few more seasons to proof himself, and that he's had a very successful cup run.

This is nonsense. There are a lot of points of comparison.

Johnny is of similar physical stature to kane, especially at similar age. he is a smaller player who is not only holding his own, but excelling despite a much ballyhoo'ed size disadvantage--I myself stated it as his major hurdle, but he is proving he has the skill and smarts that make this a non-factor.

Johnny is starting to grow into a leadership role, raising his linemates to their potential.[almost no one makes their linemates "better" than they really are, the greats do however help them reach the peak of their potential, and we are seeing that from Gaudreau.]

Johnny's really becoming a reliable producer, which is following in kane's footsteps.

No player is a complete carbon copy of another, but there are many similarities between Kane and Gaudreau. It's a valid comparison, though he is not a clone or anything.

Even as a fan of the rival team, I really enjoy watching Johnny's smart and exciting brand of hockey. I don't understand this need so many people have to never praise players of other teams, or look for ways to downplay them. As a fan of hockey in general, you should be happy to watch player play with skill.

No Flames fan is out of line in saying 'Johnny hockey reminds me a lot of P. Kane, and I hope he continues to develop and become that calibre of player." It does not diminish Kane in any way for a younger player with a similar build, a similar skill set, and a similar drive to be compared to him.

I am too, teams should be leaning on him a lot more. But aside from only a couple hits here and there, and the focussed effort by the Ducks last year, Johnny has shown to be adept at staying out of danger. Another trait he shares with kane.

the harder you lean into him, the more you try to play the body, the more you expose yourself to him though. Although I do worry that someone will take him out one of these days. Our team lacks anyone to protect him. He seems to get slashed a ton.

What happens to him happens to all skilled players, your team was very well known for that stuff until recently.

He doesn't get leaned on? There's a reason for that, any chance they have to get him they do, with hits, cross checks and slashes. But he didn't get this far by being hittable, he's extremely shifty and the moment someone over commits to him he either dishes the puck to the guy left open and dodges, or he makes a fool out of them. Last season that could be argued, but going back to late last season, the playoffs, and this season, teams have been trying.

Also, let's not do this Oilers vs Flames thing. Too many threads derailed

I flat out said he is good at avoiding it. But big teams have to find a way to do it. They have to paste him to the boards and not let him skate, because he's too lethal, both at shooting and passing.

I'm not sure how successful they'll be, cuz as we both said, he's shifty and finds ways to get free. I meant they need to try find a way to do it, to limit him.
It's a thing that displays his skill level.

And on the Oilers/Flames thing, tell your fellow fans to maybe take a compliment without being themselves, you guys complain that your players don't get respect, then when someone does you go all flames fan with a shot.
