John Tortorella Named (Part Time) Head Coach Discussion

If no other coach does something, but you do, it shows how bad you are compared to them?

LOL. Irrefutable logic.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Torts ends up a trendsetter & you start seeing other head coaches doing the same, as long as their own place in the organization is secure.

Granted, most don’t have that stature & opportunity, which is probably why you never see it.

Oh wait, consensus among hockey professionals is no longer irrefutable proof of something? Big if true.

Can you read? Did you read the sentence before that, where I said it's not bad because he's the only one who does it, but because it not doing those things means he's a shit head coach?

Do you think a coach who doesn't coach, doesn't attend press conferences, and doesn't know about his own farm team is a good coach?

He can read, and he is deliberately being dishonest. He's pretending you said something else on purpose. This is what defending Tortorella and Management requires. Twisting words, deflection, whataboutisms, strawman arguments, lying. It cannot be done with open honesty. It cannot be done by directly and accurately addressing what they've done. That's impossible. They're indefensible.

His trolling is so bottom tier, the idea he can read is questionable at this point.

If Torts suppresses offense, how come Frost is playing far better than he ever did under AV and Yeo, and with all those 2nd rate wingers Torts has stuck him with?

Why is Tippett scoring so much more here than in Florida despite playing with inferior talent?

How come TK is scoring at the same rate he did with G and Couts, saddled with Cates?
TK 5x5 pp/60:
[5 year average, 2.18] this season 2.16.
You're so dishonest.

I hope that's not true. Not that the Flyers are a desirable location now, but, if word gets out that you're punishing players for not showing up to optional practices, you're not going to have players lining up at your door.
It’s not a good look to opt out of a optional skate after you were healthy scratched for reasons given after the game before. He had to know he was already on thin ice with Torts anyway.

First he broke bones in his foot blocking a shot and had to take himself to the ER. Then when he was recovering Homer called him to the office and asked what he thought about trading Lindros for Primeau, and Brindy said that’s too much. Then Homer told him how much they valued him, and BrindAmour realized something was up because he’d never been told that before by anyone in the org. A couple of weeks later he was traded

If Mike Sullivan gets fired from Pittsburgh, I'd try to find a role for him here.

Good friends with Torts and an excellent hockey mind.

But I also find it hard to believe another team won't immediately scoop him up as head coach if he becomes available.

I guess that after a while the room gets anesthetized to a coach's voice and it's time for a separation between them and the players. If the Penguins fire Sullivan, they're stupid. Then again, it will all be up to Crosby as to that they do.

Crosby probably has the power to save Sullivan, but will he?

Pittsburgh may decide to go scorched Earth on Hextall, Burke, & Sullivan.

Hell, Sullivan may want to move to another franchise, & I wouldn’t blame him.

If you choose to let your report do your job at work is that a good thing? Would your boss approve of it?

So, it summarize...

-If all GMs do the same thing, like passing up on a player on waivers, that proves it's the correct move. They can't all be wrong!

And then at the same time...

-If all coaches do the same thing, like actually performing the job they're paid for instead of lazily dumping the responsibility on their employees, it's actually a good thing for one coach to do the opposite. The majority isn't automatically right!

Just your standard Torts groupie contradictions and dishonesty, I guess.

 Torts could throw a baby goat off the roof of the WFC and we'd get paragraphs desperately explaining why it was actually a really smart decision on his part and how Torts looked especially handsome while doing it.

A recall a rumor about Brindamour punching or threatening to do so bc Lindros got "involved" with Brindy's woman.....not sure how much truth there was to that but it was talked about when he was traded...

What can I say. The player is not in the position of authority, the manager is. Some like to sugarcoat it as “I like defending someone (GM) against the mob” while in reality they just love appealing to authorities.

The owner/manager is in the ultimate position of authority.
When a player can go around a GM to the owner, . . .

Most workplaces encourage professional development & training, which may include handling increased responsibilities under supervision.

That’s exactly what the Flyers are doing.

Of course I have trained people by having them do something I would normally do, under my supervision & followed by my input.

Standard practice.

You haven’t? Your workplace doesn’t permit professional development & training?
