That's 1.38 PPG. That's pretty good!

Brad Richards more than doubled that PPG over a full season when he was a marginal prospect in the same league.

No, I'm never letting this go.
39 goals in 38 games does raise eyebrows.
Doesn't make him a NHL player, does merit watching.

Rangers fan but I come in peace. Just curious about Torts. I think most hockey fans know he has a limited shelf life. He usually is liked in the first year and by the 2nd or 3rd year the stubbornness shows. So after 1 year do Flyers fans/players see him as part of your future?

He needed to go in the musher the day before he was interviewed.

I want another horse to kick him in the face

No. He's shit trash. Stuck in 2012 and encouraged to be stuck there by Flyers management. They're basically building around him and trying to make him the face of the team, so the suffering is only just beginning. He's a fraud at the end of his career and the lazy "I'm nearly out of here" pre-retirement attitude is already showing.

Every indication is that they're giving him undeserved influence on roster direction, and he wants to purge even more skill in favor of getting even more bottom six grinders.

I'm surprised Torts has worn out his welcome so fast. Usually it takes a year before the players and fans get tired of his me first act. He is the only coach I really did not like. My dad was a fan of his at first and then ended up despising the guy. The Rangers basically revolted in their end of season exit meetings. That is why he was fired a week after it was said he would be back a week earlier. He would refuse to play guys like Zooks and Kreider at times who both went on to have good careers after Torts was gone.

For me? I have been firmly opposed to hiring him for years. I've long been aware of what he is.

The rumors of him losing the players began when he spite benched Frost and Sanheim in front of their families for no reason except to be a dick. Throwing eager support to Provorov at the expense of guys like Laughton cannot have helped.

Most of the people here knew of his track record so we didn't go in with orange tinted glasses.

I would have thought he would have been thrilled to get another job and would have been on his best behavior for at least 1 season. He loves attention. He plays this tough guy act and the media falls for it. As I said previously he was the only coach I did not like personally. The bottom line is he may get you guys to 500 one day but your success will always be limited with him, He is the only guy that could hold McDavid under 100 points by being his coach lol. :D

i def. admit to wanting him for years even with all the warnings you guys mentioned.

i was sure he had advanced his game with his time away doing dialog behind a desk.

jesus christ was i wrong.. i had my first red flag when he went on air about the "michigan" goal thing...

but boy oh boy has he ever embraced his inner Dino here in Philly....

You were right on the money with that one lol. He is a smacked ass and if Briere has any balls he’d fire his loser ass after this season ends.

I think the idea that Brìere has power is nonsense.

Torts is going to run over Frodo, and nobody other than Fletcher has actually been fired. Brìere was a move to placate the fan base.

Oh how they don't read the room well if that is so.

It may satisfy the Cronyarchy fan base. But not those who are done with the lap dogs to the special authority.

Torts has earned a pink slip for his sitting upstairs and letting the assistants run the bench.

It would be funny if it came out that he didn't want to deal with TDA after he benched him so he put Rocky on the bench to do it and make it look like Rocky's idea.

Spot on. Narcissistic vainglorious jackass. Pulls his Mussolini act and impressed gormless dupes but not anyone who's seen a hockey game. Has no idea how to build a team or develop players, but the Flyers owe him $12M for the next 3 years so they will use him as the face of the franchise, after Chuck's disastrous attempt to use Hayes in the role, and now that Gritty's novelty has worn off. What a dismal period in Flyers' history the Fletcher Error was and continues to be. Hopefully they'll be able to compete realistically for a Cup again in 8-10 years. I have given up hope of another Cup in my lifetime. Sad after 50 years as a fan to have no hope at all.
