The idea that the coach is going to instill some everlasting aura on the team that will effect how they play long-term and as personnel massively turns over is just bananas. Total fantasy land crap
Meanwhile, Toronto had it's 5th straight 1st round exit with a handful of Allstars. Coincidence?

Very decent of him to let Sanheim know he getting his first healthy scratch since 2018 by text message. What a hero.Torts is a decent human being
First year out of 5?Absolutely love that they are giving up on this loser.
What happened to Florida? Highest scoring team in the league - all the firepower you cream over.STOP WITH THE TORONTO BULLSHIT. I beg of you. The Leafs played the Lightning just as hard as the Avalanche did. Shit happens.
Nope, didn't watch Colorado or Tampa once. I must have missed it. I'm pretty sure you or maybe it was Ghost Beer called most of that series something like boring and terrible hockey.
Good team plays good hockey, more at 11.
Once again you continue to put entirely too much value into a small sample size. Until you stop doing that, there’s no conversation to be had. What happened to Florida? Highest scoring team in the league - all the firepower you cream over.
Maybe playoff hockey really is different.
Is it an accident that the Pens won two Cups when Rutherford promoted Sullivan and brought up all his muckers from the AHL? And Sidney became one of the top two way forwards in the league?
We're trying to enjoy the combine good sir.
No. No enjoyment can be had. Chuck and Co. feast on it. You’re giving them a power up to make their chaos worse. We're trying to enjoy the combine good sir.

Torts ain't going anywhere, and he will succeed.
He's remaking this team, fast, aggressive, 200 foot hockey. Get the most out of limited talent.
And he'll play skill people if they ever get him some.
They're not going to play like Colorado b/c they don't have McKinnon, Landeskog, Makar, Toews et al.

He'll leave behind a fast young team that plays smart, disciplined hockey, that can make a Cup run if they land a couple high level scorers - and with his style of play, don't assume they have to be top picks (St Louis, Atkinson) to thrive in his scheme. Torts has no problem with fast "smurfs" as long as they play 200 feet (he'd have strangled Kane but would have worshiped Sidney) - which is why he pushes Frost - he sees the potential to be his kind of finesse center.
I don't think Fletcher understands his approach to the game, which is why I think Torts will quietly lobby for Briere or someone else to do his grocery shopping.
Plus he just said on the Best Show Ever? That there aren’t many players currently on the roster who will be here when the team is competitive againHe won't succeed.
He only cares about defense.
They won't play like those teams even if they had the players to do so because Tortorella openly despises that kind of hockey.
I don't know how anyone can get something as wrong as you've been about Tortorella from the day he was hired. Pure delusion.
AV was an asshole. My way or the highway type who didn't even try to work with players he didn't like.
In fairness, I don't think there are many players in the entire NHL who will still be active in 2045.Plus he just said on the Best Show Ever? That there aren’t many players currently on the roster who will be here when the team is competitive again
That's how you win Cups. Did you watch Colorado and TB last year?
For all their offensive talent, they were also the two best checking teams in the playoffs, they smothered opponents.

You got it wrong, the team was shit outside a half dozen players, Hakstol performed a miracle when he got that 2017-18 team to 98 points (that was a team that started AMac, Manning and Hagg along with Filppula, Weal, Lehtera and Weise). And he's doing the same with a shaky Seattle roster with no goalies. Now whether he can win with a talented team remains to be seen.Somehow said by the same guy who spent years minimizing the idea of coaching impact when it could mean Hakstol was shit.
Real honest

Shit happens. The best team doesn’t always win.
For someone that claims to be such a statistical genius you sure misuse them a lot. Coincidence?

I was told Berube was an idiot. He says to y'all "kiss my ring or kiss my ass."
