Well, given the honest response would be:

"Most of my players f----g suck and will be back in the AHL or out of hockey in a year."
"You want a list? . . . . .

Since that would be throwing his players under the bus, he tries to avoid answering any questions when they're playing this bad.

There is literally not a single thing that you won't justify by anyone in this franchise. It's nauseating.

He could very simply give empty cliches but that's asking too much from the man child who can't think on the spot and come up with something diplomatic so instead he lashes out like a cornered animal.

Well, that's so much better! :D

NOT WANTED

JOHN TORTORELLA as Flyers coach.

Last "scene" at a post game loss press conference being his usual asshole self.

REWARD: No longer having to see his smug face or hear his pedantic mouth.

But it’s my understanding that Hayes is regularly being called out by Tortorella in tape study meetings for poor plays and blown assignments, and that despite his scoring totals, a scratching isn’t out of the question in the near future. There’s real frustration there.

Pretty much what Chuck didn’t want to hire Tortorella for is seemingly happening. What a shit show.

More from O'Connor today:

They surely don’t think [Fletcher's] done a great job — look at the club’s record over the past three seasons — but there’s a belief within the organization that Fletcher has been dealt an extremely bad hand in terms of luck, particularly on the injury side. They like his collaborative nature and believe that much of this current situation wasn’t really his fault. And they believe he made a good hire in Tortorella as head coach.

I laughed at that last sentence. No shit the people who only wanted Tortorella and hired a firm to confirm they only wanted Tortorella believe Fletcher made a wise choice.

Wait, I lied: I laughed at all of it.

What happens when the decisions end up with poor results?

Put it all on the people that listened to you, right?

I'm limited it how many of these decisions I can influence given my current limited role as a consultant.

What we need to do as an organization is get back to core Flyer values. All of us want the same things the fans do. None of us are happy with the current situation. To say we're disappointed would be an understatement. Every possible dollar will be spent on fixing our problems. Don't worry, we'll be back stronger than ever.

My own personal view is that I trusted Chuck to sift through all of the relevant information. After you place capable people into roles with great responsibilities, you need to allow them the room to make their own decisions. Kindness is how I operate, as you know. Anyway, we trusted Chuck and he failed us all. Reasonably sure he's the source for global warming too.

I wonder what the statement in September of ‘20 looked like when Heiskanen was the choice.
