Complain about Torts all you want, but the team got the message, showed up early and seemingly in shape.
It's going to be an interesting season.

By interesting you mean.. in what should be an otherwise rebuilding year, Torts will work these bums to finish 10th last rather than bottom 5?

Torts will expose these players for good and evil, by the end of the season we'll have a much better sense of this franchise going forward.

i swore..and i would think coach/management had nothing/should have nothing to do with picking the captain but the players did/should

then again i've done drugs since then

So you are saying the Flyers by season's end will look like their team plane crashed in the Andes?

Fitness has never been the problem. We've been hearing fitness blamed since Stevens was coach, and how every new coach was sure to fix it because they mentioned it.
It's easier to praise Torts if we make up imaginary problems for him to "fix".

Next we'll see learn that he's solved the problem of the players intentionally dulling their skate blades before games. What would we have done without him?!

We are still hearing about how a team that outskated their opponents in OT lost because their opponents were in better shape.

The last two seasons have been chaotic, to say the least.
Not a good environment for evaluating young players.

It sounds like alot of the teams issues are a result of what many of us have been comaining about for almost a decade: the organization making bad players staples to the line up despite their poor play because they bring intangibles to the table like being a "good lockerroom guy".

MacDonald, VDV, Manning, Thompson etc. Many said "its no big deal theyre just bottom of the line up guys"...but no theyre much more problematic.

Yandle is the best example. You bring in a guy whose friends with half the team and has the iron man streak. He hurts the team on a nightly basis but bc hes well liked many guys still back him. I can abdolutely see how young guys get frustrated being benched for shitty players and it causing friction.

Idk if torts will fix this trend but im not optimistic.

I’ll happily sell my soul on the fact that the biggest problem is a refusal to rebuild.

A belief they can somehow do anything worth a damn without doing what’s necessary to bring in actual superstar level talent.

You leave yourself so little room for error with their current strategy. It’s stupid.

Player evaluation at every level is a complete joke. This team couldn't build a competitive roster with 10 1st round picks, never mind the ones they have actually drafted.

A rebuild doesn't help when you think taking Cutter Gauthier is a smart move.

Isn’t it weird we don’t hear more about him? Like a top 5 pick?

You’d think one thing to get this fanbase excited would be him. Even if he’s not playing or whatever.

When you already have a top 10 bust in that same big sniper mold you have to do whatever you can to add another at 5th overall. Charlie says he’s an upside pick and he wouldn’t lie to us.

On a related note, I’m still waiting for this team to take a single highly skilled playmaker (like a Giroux or Voracek type, who creates offense through high IQ and passing) under Fletcher. This dipshit thinks offense is just adding “snipers”. A caveman GM for the caveman fans.

Baby we're pickin' 9th, the draft is just going to make things feel even worse when the f***in' Devils add Bedard.

Do we know how much Torts is getting paid? I hope it's some insane amount so management has to bleed even more as they decide whether to fire him or fire his boss and make him President.
Devils already have a young superstar and an underrated core around him to match.
