i'm pretty surprised by this. i thought he earned another year just by where we ended up... i don't know if there is a replacement worth getting (COUGH PIERRE COUGH COUGH MCGUIRE COUGH)... i just hope if we get vigs we don't turn into the flopping flounders that the nucks were under him... don't want anything to do with ruff.

i'm gonna go out on a line and say we hire avery to coach us to a cup. :sarcasm:

Torts calling out hags on TV probably had to do with the firing.
For ****'s sake, he didn't Hagelin.

He was asked about Hagelin playing on the powerplay, he responded albeit in a manner that was a bit over the top. He should have said: "His skills don't translate to the powerplay."

Him and 29 other coaches...

not true. Most objections to Avery are adecdotal. Few actually had to work with him and he and Torts we clear polar opposites and so it played out. But he can play the game and his abrasive style is sorely missed.

Everything Torts did on TV had to do with his firing. If he hadn't made so many enemies by being such a d|ck he probably would have been given the benefit of the doubt for at least the start of next season

I guess he's like avery in that regard.. Initially effective, but eventually everyone just flat out hates him.

This needed to happen due to the offensive failure. Fact is, we played below our talent level this year. That's on the coach for not getting enough out of his players.

In fairness and to balance this out, I thought Torts got way more out of this team when we weren't as skilled. But this year was a huge step back and obviously he lost a bunch of players' confidence.

Regardless of coach, this team is STILL not talented enough to score often. For all those thinking the system is to blame, you're in for a rude awakening.

Don't try to discuss the facts with people on this board.

Just nod and agree about Tort's absolutely annihilating Kreider's confidence, or stealing Richards' kneecaps so he can't skate anymore.

Any bookies with any lists on who will be the next coach yet?
Would like to know the odds on Hank's business buddy, mr Avery.
That would have been an epic move:)

Anything can happened

Can someone explain to me why everyone is saying Tippett? Isn't he still on Phoenix?

Hell yes, mother****ers!!

This is great news. Not sure who they have in mind, (please no Ruff) but at least the 6 goalie system seems to have reached its end.

That explains all the offers he got.

Also listening to Larry Brooks talk about this makes me ****ing sick. Maybe if you weren't awful at your job, Larry, you would've gotten some respect from the coach.

IMO, lots of reasons for decision on Tortorella. Lundqvist is one. PP, overall offense, style of play, Nash, Hagelin, Kreider among others.

Would Pierre consider it?

Out of everything, I don't think Torts should get blamed for Nash. Rick is responsible for himself.

Bingo. This team actually scored less with wunderchild Nash as opposed to the previous year.
