This is hilarious because a few posters (crazy people) have told me recently that Dubas and mlse would have taken MASSIVE heat if they didn't sign Tavares.

Lol. I made the argument that most leaf fans would have fully understood.

And look at that thread. Most leaf fans knew it would be a bad idea. LOL. Can't make this stuff up.

@keonsbitterness
You shouldn't call yourself crazy.

Sigh. He's not underachieving. He's ppg which is the same as mats? His leadership is constantly questioned just like mats. Like dude. Just because you don't want to see it, that's fine. There are similarities. If the leads win the cup this year and Tavares lifts it all will be forgotten....just like after Toronto initial non canadian captain, not earned it yet mats?

There are no similarities at all.

In 2001-02 at 31 the same age Tavares is now, Sundin's 41 goals and 80 points were good enough for second and fourth overall in the league for those categories, which is exactly what Leon Draisaitl did this year. His PPG was about 13th in the league which places him Tkachuk, Panarin, Stamkos territory this year.

Tavares placed 44th overall in scoring this season, and in 2002 44th overall was 62 points. So don't look at 75-80 points and try to make the connection.

You may as well be looking at Bill Derlago's 74 and 84 points in 1981 and 1982.

AGAIN! I'm not saying they are similar. I'm saying the situation is similar. How is this so hard to understand. I'm at a loss for words. Just gonna move on..

He's just a replacement level player at this point. That concussion he took last playoffs was harsh AF. It dropped him from a 7.5 to a 5. Average, as average could be. For a whole lotta money and cap space. How many millions? Wasted. Invisible. Discuss...

All this thread proves is that you have no idea what a "replacement level" player is.

It also proves that even idiots can learn how to type.

Tavares and Nylander total no shows and Matthews has been pretty trash after game one. Aside from Mitch this team is overrated garbage

What an absolutely tool of a player. Has contributed nothing other than winning the odd draw. 11 million utterly wasted. JFC.

I think we're at the point where MLSE needs to have a pretty serious breakup discussion this summer. The captaincy needs to be taken away at the very minimum.
Yup. Noticed his lack of speed all year, but so noticeable this series. Can't keep up, can't stickhandle anymore either. Father time has come. Blow this team up. I could care less about the Regular Season standings.

Can we PLEASE demote this turd to 4th line? He needs a kick in the ass in the worst way.

I wouldn't blow up the team, I'd just start exploring how to get rid of Tavares.

Shanny and Dubas (assuming they're still here after we lose in the 1st round again) Need to have "That talk" with JT this off-season about possibly lifting his NMC. He's very visibly getting worse and worse with each passing year.

Couldn't agree more.

Yes I agree. I consider that blowing it up though, cuz with that salary out the door so much else would change.
I would keep Mitch and Willy. Unless offered an unreal deal. Matthews is off the table. But yeah, primarily trade JT and get some more depth and a goalie.

It’s just got to be a very simple “this isn’t working, we don’t want you anymore, how can we work with you to get you where you want to go?”

Has anyone noticed JT never gets called out by the media? Willy and Mitch get piled on all the time, but the 11 million captain is untouchable.

I don’t know how this clown can look at himself in the mirror. Worst captain in franchise history.

Because he didn't play last year and was solid the previous 2 series

He'll take significant heat if they lose this year

Tavares has added another digit to his statistical column tonight!

He's minus yet again as he was in game 3.

So there's that at least... right.... RIGHT?

I don't even need to say the same things over and over again, his play in this series tells the entire story perfectly.
