2 goals for Tavares tonight, its no surprise Nylander is off his line and good things are happening to Tavares. When Matthews was suspended for 2 games, Nylander was off his line and Tavares produced. Bottom line, Nylander is toxic to any line. Ask Kadri, Matthews, Tavares.

hes not toxic ... he has no chemistry with tavares ....... its literally been over 2 years of this garbage nylander tavares experiment that has NEVER worked.
they should have been separated ages ago. that being said i like the new lines. i would love to see mik tavares and kase when he comes back healthy

He had a fantastic night but scored a net front goal and a great tip at the side of the crease so had nothing to do with removing Nylander. Tavares looked a lot better tonight in general but it's something to build on as opposed to mission accomplished.
Tavares and Nylander are brutal together and should be broken up permanently though. They don't enhance each other's strengths or reinforce each others weaknesses.

JT needs to go on AM's wing , he plays like a winger and he'll be productive on that line , Throw Bunting with Kerfoot and Willie and leave the 3rd line alone ,

Do you know how many centers have less ES time per game and been on for more goals against?

Neither Nylander nor Mikheyev work well with Tavares, as he slows them down too much.
Much better to have them on Kerfoot's wings, and give Tavares a couple of players more his speed.

Why would I know something completely meaningless that has more to do with our goaltending than the referenced player?

Both Tavares goals were on the PP so how is this relevant? And maybe it's Tavares that needs to play with a top playmaker like Marner to make things happen?

None of those things are "curious". If people want to have a discussion about his defense, then they should probably talk about his actual defense, instead of trying to attribute goals against caused by bad goaltending to him.

If they wanted to custom build a line for John Tavares, I would kind of imagine a line with a Jordan Eberle (budget Marner type player) with a crash and bang power winger like an Anders Lee or something like that to support on puck carrying and all the tactical cycling and mucking it up down low. Make little area plays, back door/crease front kind of garbage goals and whatnot. The philosophical problem with this strategy though is I'm not sure the Leafs actually want to play this way and kind of underscores what an imperfect fit Tavares is for the Leafs play style.
