Would the ducks consider a 1st + a prospect + muzzin for Gibson from the leafs ? Muzzin could help insulate some of the young d and you get a first and a strong prospect like voit/Hirvonen or Villeneuve.

This is a surprisingly toxic thread.
It is possible he wouldn't want to come North for one reason or another but the assumptions seem more like wishful thinking. I'm not going to claim to know his mind but most athletes have pretty competitive personalities. Ask Kane and Toews how they feel about rebuilds. Any playoff team might seem like a better option and Toronto is basically a playoff lock with the Oilers not far behind. Maybe he doesn't want the pressure of a Canadian market or maybe he wants the spotlight, I can't say and it doesn't appear that anyone else here can either.
I'm also not too sympathetic to those that think he's washed up, he is still highly regarded and a change a scenery is obviously going to result in some statistically difference. One thing I am sure of is he is better than Mrazek and both Oiler goalies.
Campbell however is not washed up yet and I think this thread is a bit premature. I don't think we should get too excited about a career statistical anomaly that occurred while playing hurt....call me crazy.....
If Campbell shits the bed...you'll be hearing from a lot of Leafs fans
, it will be a long summer for fans of teams with surplus good goalies and bad teams with good goalies.
Nothing wrong with exploratory talks of course but I would be surprised if we didn't look at free agency first.

We could take Muzzin's contract, but if we are doing that, I would expect a better prospect as part of the deal.
Actually, even if we weren't taking his contract, I would hope for a better prospect.

Threads like this really put into perspective the amount of people who spout off using pure numbers and anecdotal evidence while completely ignoring a player’s situational context.
Gibson was a monster for the first half or so of this year, he can’t help the fact that the Ducks completely fell apart and have left him out to dry since. After certain point there’s really no sense in breaking your back trying to carry a team that’s so far removed from being playoff material.

Muzzin has no value to the Ducks. If he has any value if is negative. He is 33 and declining health wise and performance wise. He would be fine as a stopgap while the Ducks young guys develop, but no f***ing way would I want to fill that gap in a Gibson trade. They can get that in UFA.
If the Ducks are trading GIbson all of the pieces need top be pieces for the future. Would any of those 3 guys break the Ducks top 10 prospects? Shit, are they even sure things in the Leafs top 10? lol

No to Muzzin and left over prospects. I wouldn't be surprised if Gibson has every Canadian team on his NTC as well..... and no we don't want Kerfoot if that is your backup plan.

I don't think its anything you did exclusively. Its more of a build up of shit offers from fans of Canadian teams who are clearly in need of goaltending and don't want to part ways with anything worthy.
I’d do that as a ducks fan. Didn’t mind vernier when he played here . Holtz w Z would be ridonculous if he can score like he did in the shl. Their first is looking like a top 10 pick too. Looks like a overpayment though , I think Gibson returns less than most expect but still a very , very respectable returnNJ for 1st + Holtz & Bernier?

I don't blame them for not watching lol. I blame them for making evaluations of Gibson's play and value based on stat sheets and the 2 times they have seen him play this year lol.

You do know there are advanced stats that attempt to isolate goaltender performance and Gibson has been horrendous in those for years now as well?

Look at Grubauer in Colorado compared to in Seattle. The team in front of a goalie absolutely makes a difference, and Ducks are arguably as bad as Seattle defensively (worse if you take coaching into account).
Gibson has a problem of both the team letting him down and the score getting run up when the team is out of it. It deflates his stats a lot, especially last year when the team struggled to score 2, when the other team scored 3 or 4 the score usually went up because Gibson knew there was no point. Give him a reason to play and he'll go back to what he was. He definitely seems like he has fatigue issues when the team gives up defensively and motivation issues when the team can't play offense or defense.

Your offer is pretty bad. Muzin has no value to the Ducks and those prospects are dime a dozen and don’t move the needle at all.

I really think Anaheim need a young Goalie who can play NHL level next year in that trade.
A goalie like Samsonov, Oettinger Hart etc. to start and build around this to complete the better trade
