Just wanted to say, when Johansen is playing in the playoffs, and Jones is sitting at home with a -20; this trade is going to look really bad. And Jones isn't going to change this teams problems.

And now, some dumbass GM is going to be fine having 4 dmen, with I might add only a couple years experience between them; to start the season next year. Oh and no 1st line center or 1st line sniper. Guess thats bad news for Saad. Oh well, he can be our new Rick Nash!

Saad needs a Center <--- 1st.

He has one, hes been playing with him since decemeber and theyve gone on a scoring streak almost the entire month of decemeber.

Also who is this sniper you're talking about? Because we dont have a sniper this year. Hartnell has been the only one "sniping". Saad has had a few beauts too.

Preds fan here, you guys got a player who can be "that guy" for more than a decade. Out of all the defenseman we've seen, Weber, Suter, Hamhuis, Timonen, Josi, etc. I think Jones has the highest upside, and certainly has a great floor. Dude's 21 and has 200 games played, can play 25-30 minutes a night and has a lot of offensive upside that's gone untapped because of our defense. Don't worry guys, you will love him, although he has the tendency to make brain farts, he just turned 21 at the start of the year.

this isn't the first time a player with great talent has been traded....in any and every sport, and won't be the last

He didn't want to be here......what was the front office left to do?

Says who? You? He, his agent, and everyone else has said the exact opposite.

Before you bring up his play was the real indicator, well, I don't buy it.

Well. You guys got what you want. When he scores 30 goals and becomes an everyday 70-80 point center, you're going to yell and scream while we continue to watch Seth Jones stay as a top 4 defenseman and nothing better. Whatever man. I'm sick of this franchise and I'm sick of this front office. I'm not renewing season tickets next year (probably wasn't going to anyway) but this seals it. What a disaster

Well then give up your handle. There will be plenty who want it when he is the 1st line center. Hell, that could be next game.

Please. I'm a wennberg guy. I like him a lot. He's not a first line center. The dude can barely win a face off

If you read the replies above from CBJ fans, it sounds like we traded the next Toews for got some no name top-4 schlub.

I'm thrilled. It was a good day.

Maybe this is the permanent plan. Sign talent to a bridge deal, trade talent away before bridge deal ends for an impending RFA. Sign RFA to bridge-deal, trade him away before the bridge deal ends... in perpetuity

Don't be silly. The bridge deal makes sense because Jones camp can't defend the dollars they think he's worth. If they want to sign a long term deal for lower dollars now they are free to.

When a trade like this happens with a profile player like that both sides are going to want to feel things out.

If we're able to get Matthews this year, this trade is great. Would've preferred if we waited until guaranteed to be able to pick Matthews before making this trade. Having a young, high-end D-core now is an amazing sight though

My point was, Saad is THE only target now for other teams. There's no highly skilled threats anymore for them to worry about. And I'm sure Hartnell is going to have a harder time scoring as well. How much offense did we just lose?

I'm seeing a lot of questions on our centers. I think Wennberg and Karlsson have really stepped up this season and Wennberg is looking like a top six center. Jenner moving over to center could happen down the line as Dubinsky's career starts to wind down and some of our wing prospects develop.

I'm not worried about out center situation.

Yeah, I just can't take this line of thinking seriously.

He said so with his poor effort night after night...or lack of it

it's my opinion, I'm not here to argue with anyone

We can agree to disagree

All they've talked about in our young history is getting that #1 center, we finally develop one who can score without trying and we trade him! Imagine what this guy will do when he gets motivated and really tries! 100 pts+. Stupid, stupid trade! Nashville fans gotta love this!

I am from Quebec, primarily cheering for the Canadiens(i know it strange but it is the only mediatized team here) until the Nordiques can come back.

Man, CBJ, is definitely my favorite team in the league. Saad, Foligno, Jenner, Wennberg, Dubinsky, Savard, Murray, Jones, Bobrovsky... What a nice core to build around. And Werenski. Im having a hockey ***** right now.

Saad, Foligno, Jenner (WOW WOW AND RE WOW), Wennberg, Dubinsky, Jones, Murray, Savard, Bobrovsky is actually a REALLY nice core to build around.

Johansen was a very hot commodity, but jones is just as hot as a commidity. Also, if Matthews end up in Columbus. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god.

Jarmo is a freakin beassst

Jones for Johansen made too much sense for both teams, which is why those two have been linked on HF all year. At the start of the year, Joey was worth a lot more than Jones alone. Right now though, their value is probably even due to Joey's struggles.

The question the front office had to deal with was how long to wait for Joey to increase his value again. It's clear they decided that the plus of cutting ties now and getting the organization on its new path now outweighed the gamble of waiting for him to raise his value again.

I'm not jumping up and down but I'm ready to move on without Joey. Welcome, Seth!

Why should any coach have to teach effort to a guy who is making 3 mill this year and 6 next year.

When you have to teach effort every night at this level it's beyond an issue, it's a cancer......

I think the entire locker room is going to feel like they just took a 10 lb. dump before they take the ice Friday night
