It's an excellent trade for us. Jones, Murray, Werenski, etc.... Finally, we have multiple top, young defensemen.

My guess is neither GM would back down from what they thought the other pieces would be, so they went with just Johansen for Jones. Could we have gotten a little more? Sure, but this is a good trade for us.

damn, BOLD move. but seems like a win-win.

Win-win?

Not getting anything back leaves somewhat of a hole at center. Yes we have options but, I would have rather seen at least Wilson or a prospect coming back....

A real professional player gives it his all when the team is winning....and DAMN IT ALSO WHEN THE TEAM IS STRUGGLING

RJ well proved he is no professional, tons of talent....but he got out of town like he wanted

I'll reserve judgement until confirmation on the entire deal. Would seem odd if it's straight up.

only problem is now the gaping hole at center. think with time Wennberg/Karlsson can complement Dubinsky as 1/2/3 but I hope they aren't ruined by the organization rushing them into roles above their abilities.

not sure if torts is planning on moving jenner to center, though.

Same. Not devastated, maybe a little disappointed if it stands though

I look forward to seeing Jones on Saturday. He's a smooth skater

Also, this solves the dilemma of what to do with Johansen after next year

This also gives us some breathing room with the cap, right?

yeah. This is how I am feeling. Wonder how Jones feels going from the penthouse (almost) to the basement?

Is this officially a rebuild?

Way too early but, I'll throw it out there anyway...

Short term: feels like they win this..at least to me with nothing coming back with Jones
Long term: could be pretty dang even

Why? We don't need a player (and his contract) like Wilson.

Seth Jones is an RFA this summer, so we get to see yet another young superstar find his character assassinated by idiots for having the temerity to ask to be paid what he is actually worth

I'm thrilled to get Jones even if he never quite lives up to his hype. However in a straight up deal Johansen is worth more than Jones.
