Proposal: Joel Edmundson to Oilers

I'm also not confident that Dvorak is the centre we want. We'll be after a defensively sound, physical 4th line centre - ideally one who can kill penalties. That isn't Dvorak.

I wouldn't pay that price for Edmundson at 50%. Holland might be, but...ugh. It won't be Bourgault though.

Are you serious? You want us to take on the worst actual contract in the NHL? Well tried lol, we will pay our 3rd defenseman in the 4-5 M range, not 9.5... :laugh:

You are the team in trouble, the team that needs to win now, we are not in an hurry to trade Edmundson. Thats your 2023 1st that we are targeting, we could accept a reasonable cap dump as well, but you wont get Edmundson without paying the price.

What do Habs fans think about a straight up Edmundson for Barrie swap? Our PK and EV defense need help and your team's PP needs help. IF Edmonton is hot to trot for Klingberg, a trade like this could make some sense.

Not in the least bit interested. Montreal is dressing 4 rookie D as it is. Throwing Barrie into the mix will do more harm than good. Montreal needs to fire Burrows. Barrie isn’t the solution in any way

This Hab fan would rather keep Edmundson or trade him elsewhere. Don't want Barrie.

Well, that's what happens in the Habs can't get an interesting return.

But considering that other than Monahan there's no one to rent out who's likely to bring back an interesting return... so we have 2 unused retention spots.... we know in a year he'll be using a retention slot, so why not use one of this years unused ones if it means getting a 1st, a Bourgault, etc. ? Of course if we're just being offered a 2nd and a 5th, might as well hope for better next year.

Edmundson is better than Kulak and the Oilers just paid a 2nd and 4th last deadline. Eddy also has one more year in term at a very fair cap hit.

If the Habs offer 50% retention, his value increases.

Go somewhere else with the 4th and 3rd rounder narrative. You're off by a wide margin

We can retain on Eddy if we get the 1st we are asking for. Thinking we will get a 1st for Eddy at full cap hit cause Savard and Chiarot returned a first is hope. Possible but not probable

It would have to take a first in '23 to move Edmunston

We are after futures if we trade Eddy. Possible retention or taking back a 1 year cap dump (this season) is an option.

I doubt the Oilers trade Barrie but if you want Klingberg in a separate trade, send Barrie the other way in that trade.

And whats your cap solution? Edmonton is over the cap and into LTIR money. e have a little LTIR money until Kane comes back but that cap would have to be gone the minute Kane is back. The Oilers have to be dollar in dollar out.
