Proposal: Joel Edmundson to Oilers

I know the cap would not work but it would bring this team far in the playoff from my point of view.

If Edmundson (worth a low 2nd rounder now with MTL fans desperation) and J Anderson, I would offer
Pulju + 2nd + Kesselring (Oilers best AHL D prospect).

I _HATE_ when other tesms make a thread with a team gets one of their players. It just feels forced on us, and desperate. It really feels like Edmundson is a dump.

So that sinks the value a lot.

Edmundson for a 2nd + Puljujärvi.
A 2nd ks the best youbwill get for him.
And we give you Puljujärvi as a penalty for stupid threadstart without thinking it through.

The cap doesn't work, so it's not going to happen.
Even just Edmundson means the Habs GM going against his "only retain expiring contracts" rule.

Sorry, but the fans forcing of shipping out Edmundson doesnt lift his value.
Rather opposite.
If you get frustrated at keeping him, then it tells the rest of the league what he is all about.
I say, lay low for a while with Campdupson.

$9 million in cap. For that to work you would need to take back Barrie ($4.5 million) and Puljujarvi ($3 million) and retain $1.5 million on Edmundson's contract and Edmonton would need to be pretty damned certain that Anderson is worth that kind of scratch because he's signed for 4 more seasons beyond this one.

Edmonson is an atrocious defensman, a detriment to his team whether he's on the ice or off of it by taking terribly unnecessary penalties, but one of the sort for whom NHL GMs overpay both in terms of finances and franchise resources every year.

He'll bring at least a second round pick because he supposedly elevates his game at crucial moments, contributes grit, heart. and leadership, and plays in the style necessary to win when competing in "playoff hockey."

All of that is complete bunk, but there are always a couple old-school GMs to be hoodwinked year after year after year.

Heck, look at the contract that Chariot recieved last summer.

I was leaning towards Eddy for Pulji till i read on how terrible and useless he has been. I have since changed my mind and decided we'd be better off keeping the much better player.

During the habs cup run, edmundson played 23-25 mins a game, kulak played 10-14 mins. I'd say the gap is pretty big in the eyes of nhl coaches.

I mean that is what GM has as a priority. To find another 1st in 2023.
Sure, I agree Edmundson is not worth 1st, but there is space to negotiate for both sides. You can include Puljujärvi, other picks or prospects to make that work.
