This team ALWAYS waits till the asset is broken to trade them. He and Price should have been moved some time ago for the rebuild if they were serious. Same for Webs and the old guard
Do you even realize two summers ago all those guys were in the Stanley Cup finals? So when you say "some time go" do you mean the next season when they were injured because they sacrificed their bodies for the team during that playoff run...? And how do you even move Price's contract...

You still need vets around the kids. Eddy will be a lost in the room. You need that in a young room.

This is pretty decent considering there are many teams trying to get rid of players for free.
We also need to move forwards.
We might need to use this 3rd and 7th if we want to move Hoffman or Armia, even with 50% retained.

Developmentally? If our core survives next year? The big skilled reinforcements will be there…

I think a lot of our injuries occurred because there were no vets around to calm the kids down and remind them to pick their spots etc. Was Arbs really needed to fight that much? Does Guhle know when to press , when to go for the hit, how to control that pressure? Man vets are important, I don't think Savard /MM are a good combo for this either. Really going to be a tough year next year unless Kent adds some serious help up front to insulate this very young core

They've known about PRice's issues for years, he should have been moved well before that cup run and this team should have been rebuilt. You never wait till your vets are broken. This wasn't the Roy trade, Price should have been moved a while ago

Why 2024 picks? Stack the draft ffs, its not complicated. Well be half assed rebuilding for decades.

Ive been saying that they need to stack a draft since 2018 for crying out loud. 5 drafts later and were still at the same spot as 2018.
Probably had to wait because of eddy’s sb that was due today.

Also, with the way they drafted in the late rounds this year, it seems like they didn’t particularly care about his draft.

I mean with Guhle, Harris, and Xhekaj all on the left, it was time to move on. Sure we ate some of the cap but 1.75mil for a season isn't bad.

Pros:
- Space for our young players to log decent minutes
- We got a 3rd out of it
- Some more cap space to potentially take on more salary later on with another pick coming our way

Cons:
- Ate 1.75mil for a year
- Maybe could've gotten more

Overall, fair trade I think.

That he was. Well appreciated in the room, several players pointed out last season how influential he was.

Culture Quotient has definitely taken a hit with Eddy gone.

So during the 2021 Cup run you were sad? Or were you cheering and was proud like you've never cheered before or maybe since 1993?

This trade has confirmed my thoughts about our fanbase being out of touch and having unreasonable expectations.

More picks to draft someone's brother, overagers and we got rid of Edmundson, what's not to like ?
