We retained 50%, so only saved 1.75M, and lost a retention spot.
Wasn’t that our third and last retention spot for the current timeframe that resets soon?

And another LD is gone. I'm surprised it happened before the UFA market was empty thought, I guess that trade was handshaked earlier and just waiting for the bonus to be paid.

Stay as you are. You’re a forum original.

This is not the propaganda arm of the Habs. Hughes is surrounded by enough yes-men, we don’t need to replicate that set up here.
I don’t find sobby no-men trolling for attention any more enjoyable to read. It’s as if some people follow hockey to be purposely depressed and figure people must enjoy reading the resulting vomit.

See, lopsided deals happens. Every year. So how is it that some are able to do that and we can't? By the way....in FAVOUR of Hughes...Matheson for Perry and Poehling...how come he was able to fool a GM there?

Yes, but you can't expect lopsided deals in Hughes's favour every time he makes a trade. What is the argument here? Hughes won the Matheson trade so we should expect him to win all trades all the time?

Yeah. Joel provided lots of toughness from his hospital bed.
Joel stepped up to fight Myers after that disgusting headshot, he was the only one. Stop pretending he didn't have a physical element

He's played around 50% of the games over the last three years.

He wasn't getting some grand return.

No. I'm told that it does not happen. That a GM can't make another GM do a bad move. I'm saying it does.

Injuries and the right side losing Weber/Petry did a number on his performances.

Year 1 55gp +28 + finals run
Year 2 24gp injuries
Year 3 61gp -29

By meh you mean fair, nobody here should be complaining about a fair trade.

Eddy has chronic back issues and really struggled last season when he did play, there was no way we were getting a second and Hughes absolutely had to move him to clear some space on an over crowded blue line.
Pittsburgh will likely be crap. The 3rd could be close to a late 2nd.

We had three in 2022-23 but only two were used (Bonino & Dadonov). Both are off the books now so we have three for 2023-24 and this uses one of them

Problem isn't the picks. Problem is the retention. How about you people check and see what our salary cap is all about? Geez, I would have shipped Edmunston for a 4th pick with no salary retention. Who cares about the 7th? And in the end, 3rd round or 4th round..who cares right?

I didn't care about keeping him. Couldn't care less. Of all the things in play here...keeping Eddy, freeing money, or getting more mid-draft picks...what did we needed more?

Money.
We’re not privy to the negotiations. Maybe the Caps don’t do the deal without retention.

At least the 3rd is 2024. Good year to have a 3rd. At least for the people who believes in picks...
