He doesn't have the offensive production for a 6M contract, but I could easily see in the 4M range.

Could be with MTL or elsewhere. He is a quality piece and really gelled with Staal and Perry.

He has always been a good player and I'd be glad to have him back, but it'll likely not happen due to cap reasons.

The critisism comes from a common misperception among the fanbase. The fans are building an image and expectations of a player based on small sample sizes, best case scenarios, unusual deployment etc. and then hold the player accountable based on flawed criteria, without regard as to what the specific player truly is. We've seen this with Lehkonen, for example.

Armia is a middle-6 winger that can perform useful roles. If you have him on the 3rd line, it means you have a pretty deep pool of wingers.

Joel the Molasses Armia. His strides are long and visibly heavy but it is incredible how he is able to make separations.

He’s big and strong and he’s clearly learning from Staal and Perry. He can be frustrating at times but hopefully we keep him.

We would all like to keep him, but for how much? With the way he's playing in the playoffs, he may ask 4M+ per season.

Whenever there's a cap crunch it's guys like Armia that take the brunt of the hit. You still have to pay the star players regardless of the cap because if you don't someone else will and it's still better to pay a star and play a rookie then it is to spend the same money and have two middlling guys.

I have no idea what Armia is looking for, but the Habs shouldn't go anywhere close to 4m. At best they should should offer the security of a long term deal for reduced cap hit. So instead of the 2-3 year deal at 3-3.5m which he's arguably earned try to tempt him with a 5 year deal at 2.5-2.85.

Give him 4x3.5M and the PK + 2nd PP-unit role back like last year(0.52 ppg) and he will sign&deliver. It was pain to watch how they buried his confidence after a career year.

He's been dynamite but we can't get screwed into overpaying for role players. He's been a HUGE one no doubt. I'm sure only a small batch of teams would pay him something like 4.

At this point, with the playoffs he is having, I am convinced that if he signs for under 4M, then we have to thank him for taking a hometown discount.

Nah, he played the same way in Winnipeg with Lowry, it's just that the old guys actually know how to cycle and use their backs to protect the puck. He finally has guys on his line that can play like he does. Hopefully guys like KK and Anderson get better at that.

The hero of game 3, 2x SHGs, impossible to knock off the puck essentially cycling at will, anticipating and intercepting everything defensively...

Why can't he bring it every game??! God is he ever frustrating.
