Player Discussion Joel Armia turnaround year?

As others have mentioned, LTIR provides cap relief but regular IR does not. Regular IR is for a minimum of 7 days and is only used when a roster space is required, which wasn't the case here since we only had a 21 man roster. LTIR does provide cap space but must be for a minimum 10 games and 21 days. It can be back dated so if Armia is out that long he can be placed on LTIR and his cap space will be freed up.

Players recalls from the taxi squad or minors count to wards the cap, whether emergency recall or not.

Looking at Daily Cap tracker on Capfriendly, Perry did count against Cap for $6,466 for the day he was on roster (750K X 1 day over 116) but he was listed as emergency recall so they did not use up one of his 10 games or 30 roster days that would require him to clear waivers again. This stuff is complicated.

100%! It's complicated and lots of little rules to follow

Joel is like a big pillow on the ice. He should dish it out once in a while and quit being such a teady bear.
Ah yes, the soft and lazy Armia. Heard that one before. Funny that the truth is the exact opposite.

Canadiens' Joel Armia: Remains out A week ago he had no trouble hustling 20 mins sessions on a therapist’s leash and he still isn't ready ? Some info would be nice, it's been two weeks. Does he have symptoms after sessions ? If not, for Christ sake let the guy play, you can't afford him anyways when the season is over.

He will be back when he’s ready, chill out.
What’s with this ‘can’t afford him’ nonsense?

Hopefully Armia doesn't read this forum. Can't wait for the summer and when he leaves this disrespectful fanbase behind. Yuck.

Wish him a speedy recovery. Extremely underrated player for the Habs. Want him back in the lineup asap.

YOEL where are you, I didn't name my OTP player in NHL 17 for you to be out with an injury.

Jokes aside, easiest way to find out if someone has any clue about hockey is to ask them there opinion on Armia. Gives you everything you need to know.

I can't wait until Armia puts up more than 31 points in a season.

He's 27, and I'm still waiting.

Having said that, I'm looking forward to him being healthy and getting back. He may have been the one to break through the Sens D when we needed a goal tonight.

Armia is meh as f***

Armia's a great 3rd liner when he's on and not floating (or taking ridiculously dumb penalties, which can bite him from time to time)...I was hard as Hell on him at the start of the season purely because he wasn't playing his game and was ghosting again; however, he can also be a very effective 3rd liner that can change the entire complexion of a game with one well-timed play...it's on him to be that guy more often than not...

For your sake, i hope you're just playing clueless. He has played 120 games as hab and produced 0.48 ppg. That's 2nd line production on a mediocre team.

Well let's hope he can play a full season, and not produce in spurts when he does.

He hasn't been able to do either yet.
