They've been drafting those players to make up for the present short falls. The drafted players have largely yet to make the top 6 hence the projection of:

Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson
Baertschi - Sutter - Hudler

Benning is getting Hudler to play on LW to take a load off of Baertschi.

Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson
Hudler - Sutter - Hansen
Baertschi - Horvat - Burrows
Gaunce/Granlund - Granlund/Gaunce - Etem

Heh... Well, I don't want to start a whole "Sedins are not soft" debate here, but, the Sedins are not soft. I haven't seen enough of Eriksson lately to comment, but from what I remember from his Dallas days he's a bit of a battler, isn't he? That top line may not be one that is going to beat you up, but they'll muck it up in the dirtiest areas of the ice with the best of them, and will often come out on top.

Baertschi-Sutter-Hudler? Ya, that's a bit soft. I have a feeling it would be broken down differently...

 Ok there bud, I hate to break it to you but the Sedins are soft. They literally have no push back :shakehead

He'd be a good fit with the Leafs you got a lot of young talent on this team so adding a vet wouldn't hurt.

JVR Mathews Nylander

Hudler Kadri Marner

Komarov Bozak Michalek is a solid looking top 9

I really don't think so. Edmonton, Calgary and Arizona also got way better too.

You've got to admit though, that if you're going to give all that money to Eriksson, and if you're going to trade McCann for Gudbranson, adding Hudler would be nothing but positive just so there's a chance to be a playoff team again like SJ did after everyone counted them out. Every little bit helps, and Hudler did very well in the Pacific division before.

Except when they're throwing elbows on defenseless players in the corners, then they're "tough"...

lol a soft top 6 took us to the cup.

And then lost because the Bruins bullied them :help:

Even then you had players like Kesler, Bieksa, Lapierre, Rome, Torres, Glass, and Alberts, who are no longer in the lineup. Your lineup was considerably larger and tougher then than it is now.

No, they lost because their goalie was psychologically damaged while the Bruins goalie played out of his mind. Have the goalies switch sides and the soft team beats the bullies easily.

This is the biggest pile of tripe I've read in a long time.

They lost due to the lack of scoring. They scored a significantly less amount in the finals than in the rest of the season and playoffs, and lowest seen in a stanley cup finals team in 40 something years.

If you're going to pretend to know stuff, at least be in the realm of reality. :help:

Super relevant to the Hudler rumor.

Both teams didn't have any monsters on it. A lot of teams don't. Cool story, bro.

ANYWAY --- If Benning is giving a FA a deal, it'll probably be for term passed his prime and for too much, so hurrah for locking down that 10th pick for years to come.

Hudler to Vancouver would have happened already but Benning doesn't like the idea of getting Hudler for free so he is planning out how to forfeit his 1st and 2nd round picks next year before signing him.

How many goals did the Canucks score in game 7 again? How many did they score in the entire cup finals? Just saying Luongo was only part of the problem and even then he won them a ton of games they had no business winning.

Hudler-Sutter-Hansen
Baertschi-Horvat-Virtanen

Who knows...

On to Hudler, I personally don't really want him unless it's for a max. 2 year deal. I'd rather keep that cap space for a younger player, personally.

On Hfboards, Swedish = Soft for some reason.

Lol, he will find a way to make what could be a low risk move (1 year show me deal) into somehow blowing his brains out. I can just see it now: 3 x 4 for a guy who will "take the pressure off the young guys"

I hope he signs a cheap 1/2 year deal. Honestly I really wouldnt mind. It would allow Virtanen to develop in the AHL but still see time when people get hurt/etc. It would give us a little bit of depth and most importantly it keeps benning from trying to make another trade.

Exactly... Haters just wanna proclaim that the Canucks are soft.
Anyway, if Hudler signs, then the Canucks' top-9 looks pretty good:

D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Eriksson
Hudler-Sutter-Hansen
Baertschi-Horvat-Rodin/Virtanen/Etem

That 1st line should be one of the best in the league imo. And if the Horvat/Baertschi line emerges as a solid 2nd-line next season (as some believe that they can) & pushes the Hudler/Sutter/Hansen down to the 3rd line; then that 3rd-line becomes one of the best in the league (if not the best).

Btw, if the Canucks really wanted to ice a gritty/mean d-core, they can:
-Edler (6'3" 215lb)
-Gudbranson (6'5" 216lb)
-Tryamkin (6'8" 240lb)
-Pedan (6'5" 214lb)
-Sbisa (6'2" 205lb)

Add Juolevi to the mix if he puts on some weight this summer (he's 6'3" and should be around the 200lb mark when he makes it to the NHL). Also, Hutton, Tanev, and Biega all seem to handle themselves fine.

Dude, we have a soft forward core. There's no denying that or looking past that if we sign Hudler... Even then, it's very soft. Can it compete in the tough western conference? That's the question.

Make my day.
Uhhhh, they almost won a stanley cup with that... So yes actually it did work.

That team had a prime Kesler and Burrows in the top 6 with Samuelsson. They also had Torres and Hansen on the 3rd line, with a big checking centre. (Lappy and Higgins with who ever on the 4th line).

This Canucks top 6 with Hudler is going to be super soft, top 9 just as bad.

true
but pretty funny (and predictable) that this turns into yet another Bruins and Hawks fans haterfest, lol

No, he's correct. Luongo was mediocre in the finals at best, and Thomas played insanely well. Vancouver scored very few goals because of Thomas. Boston scored a lot of goals because of Luongo.
