Goals 1 and 4 were stoppable, just like goal 2 on Cory last night.

Why do so many people use so many calories on defending this guy, who has by all means, played like bum this year? He's been TERRIBLE this year!

Even if you expunge this game, he's got an ,896 save percentage and too many weak goals allowed.

Give me a break already.

Who gives a shit? What goalie doesn't let in stoppable shots? THEY ALL DO. I don't care what Kinkaid's stats are this year, he's played like 6 games, and the team has played like miserable dog shit in front of him. It's just bizarre to me that after the dumpster fire we just watch people are dragging one of the few guys that actually played well.

Zacha didn’t really impress. His pass was good but I didn’t feel like he played a good game. He has to play harder. The whole team had to play harder though. Terrible showing and the team needs to find the fire they had at the beginning.

Personally I really like Tortorella as a coach (re Hynes "going Torts" on the team).

NHL players are making millions playing a game. They are trained, fed, having people carry their bags. While most schmucks in life have to get up at 6 in the morning and drive to an office and do boring shit all day just to be able to pay for the tickets to their games.

The players better f***ing work their tails off every night or there are so many young guys who would love to take their spots. When entitlement sneaks into a group it's doomed. I am not saying this is the case on this Devils team, but the coach can't allow it to happen.

So, yeah, maybe someone from Bingo could be an idea right now.

This stoppable shot business is really getting out of hand. Goalies are being watched under a microscope on this board and it is kind of nuts.

These guys are turning pucks over left right and center. You can’t win that way no matter who your goalie is. Marty would have thrown this team right under the bus if this happened in front of him.

Keith has every right to be pissed at the team. They left him out to dry.

He didn’t stink the last game. All of you guys are being absolutely ridiculous in your bashing just to bash someone and finding an axe to grind on.

Cory wasn’t the problem last night. Keith wasn’t the problem tonight. Price could have started both games and we lose the same way.

We lost because we played soft, loose, and turning the puck over like a bad game of hot potato.

Everyone needs to stop looking to just pile on blame for the guy they currently can’t stand right now. There is no actual insight or analysis in this at all.

You are correct. Every single goal given up was solely the other players fault. Glad that was cleared up. :squint:

Now THIS is something I can get behind.

Oh and the "suck it refs" comment is appropriate as well, considering that all season long thus far, Devils have been getting the short end of the stick here with the Penalty calls.

i dunno if ur just humoring me.... but its like they know they can mess with this young team. a team still getting to know each other. yet when i watch vegas its a different story. yet we are still basically on par..... this team should be proud of the season and i hope they are waking up to the fact that it is not going to come easy. forget this game and move on.

Marty would have had the stature to do it. Even Cory has the stature to do it. Not a backup that has horrible numbers.

Neither game was on the goalies. They were left out to dry in both games.
The difference is that Cory is getting it done this year, Kinkaid is not getting it done. Cory has bad games sometimes, that will happen when you play close to 75% of your teams games. Kinkaid has started closer to 25% of the games and has been bad in 75% of those starts.

His save percentage since October 27th? .881, which is a real 2013 Hedberg-like stretch. 217 shots, 26 goals against.

And since so many people have issue with me using tonight, I'll tell you what. I'll shave tonight's off the stretch. That makes it 21 goals on 178 shots. That's still an .882 save percentage. Not gonna do goals against, that's a team stat, I couldn't care less about that.
Who gives a ****? What goalie doesn't let in stoppable shots? THEY ALL DO. 10 games, 8 starts.

Not 6. I can't believe the heights people go to defend a BAD goalie.

I don't hardly anybody defending Hedberg like this in 2013. Maybe Marty, but he's a team legend. Big difference there.

You keep kidding yourself, but we have a .919 goalie on this team, who takes more shit than our .893 goalie.

Kinkaid allowed 2 stoppable goals tonight on 5 in total. A third of his goals allowed this year are bad goals. Too high a percentage there. If you cut his bad goals against in half, he probably has close to a .910 save percentage this year.

How about this stat then?

.893 save percentage. Can you find me 10 goalies in the league that have played more than 5 games that have been this bad? You can't even use the bad team excuse here like Edmonton, because we have a .919 goalie and we have an .893 goalie.

This is a huge differential between goalies on the same team.

Again what does the season have to do with tonight? Tonight he had no real chance because of how we played.

Unfortunately we don't really have any other options short of giving Cory a Marty like workload. Maybe it would have been better to give Kinkaid last night's game instead, but Cory was also coming off a strong start previously.

It's hard to focus on goaltending this weekend though given the team wide breakdowns that happened in both games. Neither guy stood on their heads, which they likely would have had to to get us points. We just need to clean our shit up, and quickly.

And without tonight, he still has an .896 save percentage on the season and .882 save percentage since October 27th.

That's taking out tonight, that's not talking about which goals were and weren't bad either.

So can you blame him for not getting the benefit of the doubt? Those numbers look like a real liability to me. They're worse than his career numbers by quite a bit, which have also been brought down due to how bad he's been this year.

If we don't collect 4 points in our next 2 games, we'd be wise to not play him on Friday.

Again, 3 games in 4 nights for any goalie is not a good idea.

You aren’t watching the game if you think we played even close to competent defense this weekend.

We are giving up 30+ shots each night with a large majority grade A chances in front.
I think we allowed 30+ shots when Kinkaid played last year, when he had a .916 save percentage. We probably allowed close to 30 in 14-15, when he was a solid .915 goaltender. We allowed the fewest we've allowed in any season that he's been here in 15-16 and he was in the lower 900's.

You're gnawing away on this like he wasn't our best player tonight. If you feel like he's that bad, then you must think he shouldn't play at all, right? What's your answer? Get a new backup? Or play no one but Corey the rest of the way? I'd like to know.

If you can’t see that the team bleeding shots and making turnovers like they were paid to do it is the real problem? Man I just don’t know anymore.
They do it in front of Cory too, yet he stops almost 92% of the shots he faces.

Occasionally, he's had games like against Columbus and Winnipeg and even a few games where we didn't play that bad, but he's allowed some clunkers. He's getting it done though, the backup is not getting it done.

I'm not blaming Kink on this bad loss even though I've been saying I'd prefer to keep Wedge.

The turnovers and failed clears see why we are losing.

zacha looked....ok.

nothing good, nothing bad... just timid and ok

so, disappointing,

Yea it was a mix of good plays and bad plays. He was more noticeable in the offensive zone, got open a couple times to be set up for a shot, nearly banged home a garbage goal...just way more noticeable than he has been in pretty much every game this year. There were a couple times he probably could have scored but either flatly whiffed or missed a bouncing puck. Then the assist was a great pass. But there were some plays where either rust or lack of confidence was showing...I remember one zone entry he crossed the blue line, held up, and kinda seemed to turn around looking to drop it to someone, and it was just turned over in short order and went the other way. Just an awkward/bad zone entry.
