We still have him because noone will take him even in a cap dump.
Would you take on an absolute garbage defenceman and his 4.33 million dollar salary if it only included a 4th rounder?
The Jets would would have to give up a 1st or 2nd or a top prospect for a team to take Kulikov. Ain't happenin. That's why he's still here.

how many times did a 1st or top prospect get moved in cap dump trades this year? only one i remember is marleau, but the leafs were a lot more desperate than us.

In the regular season NHL it has to be almost impossible to not get 1 PP all game and even harder not to get 1 penalty called against you even with players from both teams going off . Man was that one sided reffing , so glad the Jets still won the game and sent 1000 Panther fans home with a loss .:neener:

jets lost 4 starters over the summer and you think that Kulikov was somehow offered with draft picks to another team. no he isn't being offered up in a trade and as far as him being as bad as you think he is playing and not even a healthy scratch.

i am not sure what exactly would do it, but i doubt it would cost a high-end asset (like a 1st or top prospect)

i am sure there's a GM that sees a Kulikov a D averaging 20+mins/night and must surmise he must be good.

i don't think i would have given chiarot that term you're right, but id rather have chiarot 3.5m than kulikov 4.33m. neither are great options given their cap hits, but chiarot is less worse imo

For this year, yes, Chiarot's deal is better, but I can't judge a 3 year deal against a one year and say I'd rather have that one in this circumstance.

Marleau's buyout cost the Leafs a 1st to move it. Kulikov would cost a bit more, or there'd be some retention.

Anyway, I don't think Kulikov was awful last night.

a gm will see kulikov averaging 20+mins a night and spend an asset to get him. isn't that how he garnered a 4.33m/year deal? :sarcasm:

Exactly. That's why he's still here and to say move hime with a any pick just won't happen.

ok so what deal costed a 1st in a cap dump this year?

Scheifele was the best Jet on the ice, and seemed to improve his defensive game. Great eyes on that pass to Morrissey (who was probably the third best Jet last night after Scheifele and Laine, although I'd also have to give Lowry a lot of consideration).

Good to see.
Morrissey was very good , i really think he's just starting to get 100% healthy . I also thought Wheeler had alot more jump than he's shown for a while , good to see because we need to have that 2nd line scoring to take some of the pressure off the 1st doing all the scoring .

show me the deal that costed a 1st and/or top prospect this last off-season, other than Marleau which was an extraordinary situation as tbcwpg pointed. i can see why they wanted to keep him b/c they lost trouba, myers, chiarot, doesn't discount the fact he's still terrible on the ice and overpaid

get serious will you or for some reason maybe you are nobody in management is remotely thinking of getting rid of Kulikov. you could probably give them a draft pick that isn't a 1st for him and they wouldn't do it.

I got the feeling the Jets really got amped up after about four missed calls that were obvious. Their bench seemed to gain energy off their anger and took matter into own hands and played with some serious passion!
Those last two Laine passes, only the goals, wow!

Awesome game! They always have and always do better every time something fires them up. If they would come out with a physical game every time, they would play better right from the start of every game. They are day and night when they are fired up

I really like how we got a goal from the brief reunion of the ESL line, maybe Maurice will take notice

Seems to me about a month ago, when that line was reunited for about two shifts, they also scored.

I would love to see that line as a regular thing, but maybe Mo is trying not to stack one line? If we are down points and need to score though, that is the line I would throw together.

Your not getting it.
My whole point is that Kuli isn't going anywhere.
Your statement that we should have traded him and a 4th hasn't happened and won't for good reason.
The only way a team would take him on is to get a high draft pick with it. The Jets would be foolish to do that so he is here to stay until end of season.

The Jets would have to give up a higher pick to move him.
Better to wait until his contract runs out at season's end.

Can’t play high energy every game all season. I get that. But that would be a glimpse of how tough we could be to play against come playoff time.

Kulikov probably has baby brain. It'll pass in a few years.

Something that I noticed is that the ice time was in a more acceptable range. All our top 9 were in the 17 to 18 and a half minute range. I don't think it's a surprise our top players looked more fresh.

not what you were saying. you said the jets would have to attach a draft pick to him to move him he was that bad. in reality if a team offered the jets a draft pick for him the jets wouldn't take it unless it was a 1st more then likely.

I agree with the left winger swap. Obviously there were great results today, but Ehlers and Roslovic are skating around and swooping and a shooter there would help Wheeler. If the blender returns, I think that's the first thing to try.

Watching KC last night carefully, he is certainly not a player who works his linemates as well as 55/29. He is awesome at what he does, but he plays like he has blinders on sometimes. Ehlers hasn't in the past, but this year seems to have a little more peripheral vision than KC at this point of their careers, and would work better with 55/29 imo.

Again, maybe Maurice feels that he needs Ehlers to help the Wheeler line, but my unprofessional opinion is that Ehlers and KC should switch. It just seems like a better fit for both lines.

I find it depressing watching games n Florida. A lot of empty seats... looks dark... fortunately just once a year thing.

Oh and yay Jets.
The Panthers should market more at the northern visiting teams' fans...partner up with Air Canada or Westjet and put together a package - or even just advertise the FLA-TBL trip idea when the schedule comes out.
