Roslovic has looked very good lately , man if he could get just a little more consistent he could be the 2nd center i think the Jets hoped he would be . Roslovic , Ehlers and Laine could be a very good 2nd line .

Could be. Right now though, I just want H-R-A as the 3rd line. They were so good together. I will never understand why Maurice finds chemistry and then immediately breaks it up. :shakehead There is some kind of serious disconnect in his thinking there.

Always a little surprised at just how much stock some fans put into totally unproven prospects. Opinions based more on hope and wishes. Hopefully, he will progress through the Moose to the Jets and earn a spot in the next year or two or three, along with Heinola and Chisholm. Gotta earn it first.

Good grief! A dose of realism on one hand is one thing, but if it takes 3 years for those D prospects to arrive, Jets need to start a tear-down rebuild.

Samberg being a difference maker this season could happen, but that is probably a little ambitious. Being one by this time next year is not out of sight though. If he still needs a year, or more in the AHL after his 3 year NCAA career then he is not the Dman we are hoping for. Solidifying the 3rd pair is not enough.

I liked Eakin's game centering the 2nd -

He doesn't appear to be very interested in scoring goals and really doesn't have to with these two wingers.

He spends most of his time chasing down puck carriers and cutting off passing routes. Has a really sneaky stick that he uses really well when defending and stripping pucks - and he uses those short little outlet passes to get things moving in the other direction.
There's nothing flashy about him and unless you're paying attention, you can miss what he's doing out there -

The 2nd line was dangerous tonight and he had a lot to do with it - in a sneaky way.
Anyone else seeing this?
100%
I've found myself eager for every shift that line gets.
Seems that both Patty and Fly like to work with creative chaos and Joe Dirt is in there doin' Joe Dirt thangs.
Really liking what he is bringing to the line.

That's my point. People talk about these non-NHLers (and non-AHLers for that matter) like they are going to jump right in and play at the level of a top four defenseman immediately. That's based a lot on hope. Perhaps they will. But the AHL is way better than NCAA, and the NHL is way better than the AHL. I would agree that a two or three year stint with the Moose may be much, but I don't expect him to crack an NHL lineup right out of the gate. Perhaps a half season with the Moose wouldn't be unreasonable.

I think at this point the organization was hoping that both Poolman and Niku would be solid NHL defensemen, so there would be no rush to bring in the next wave of prospects. They probably hoped that Stanley would be closer as well. All this throws a bit of a wrench in how they handle their prospects. Expect the Moose to have a pretty good, young defense next year, though.

Samberg plays in one of the toughest NCAA conferences. I believe it is equal to the AHL in level of play and in preparing prospects for the NHL. It is entirely possible that Samberg is ready to step right in. If so he will still be a raw rookie though. He will make rookie mistakes. I won't be too surprised if he needs a partial season in the AHL either. But based on all I have seen and heard about him, I expect he will be able to improve our 3rd pair right away. Stepping up to the top 4 will likely take a little longer. Expectations are high for him and a little disappointment is likely.

I don't expect Niku to ever become a regular starter for the Jets. Poolman may be an adequate 3rd pair D, but I'm hoping somebody pushes him to the PB next season. But maybe he plays with Samberg on the 3rd pair next year. 2 rookies there might be too much.

Pionks for Trouba straight up would have been a fair trade in hindsight now, the bonus and what makes the Jets the winners in the trade is obviously Heinola!

really don’t know what Rangers fans were yammering on about with Poink, guy would be welcome on any team in the NHL!

Don't forget the 5 mil difference in cap hit. :)

But I think you are overstating a bit. Trouba is a legit top pair Dman. Pionk is a 2nd pair Dman. We were better off with Trouba on the top pair than with Pionk on the 2nd. If Heinola lives up to what we saw early this year, I think we will have won that trade. But this is way too early to make a final judgement.

Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Yes, the current 3rd line is good. The 2015 line was better. Small sample, but it was a lot better.

Wouldn't you think having Copp on that line makes it better?

I guess Apples is a bit more of a buzz saw but I think I'd take Copp over Apples. I guess the other difference besides adding Apples is having Roslo at centre in place of Copp.

I do agree though..there was something about that 2015 line that made you wonder why the heck PoMo would break them up.

Couple of tweaks here and there when Lowry and Perrault are back and all should be good. Though I certainly am a bit concerned as to who comes out when they draw back in. I think most of this board agrees on who should come out...and they aren't the young guns...

Poolman stayed in college too long after starting college late, guy is finally playing hi s first full NHL season and will be what 28? in the off season.

Samberg talk is premature but you never know as we saw with Trouba, I would also assume Samberg will be more polished than Trouba coming to the Jets!

Both Niku and Poolman were slated for greatness here by some but as we’ve seen they both have THEIR limitations!

Poolman is going to be 27. Jets were just too deep at RHD until this year. He wasn't going to take a job away from any of Trouba, Buff or Myers. Poolman was never slated for greatness by anyone. Niku was maybe being overrated due to winning that Dman of the year award in the AHL. Right now he is too good for the AHL but not good enough for the NHL.

Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Isn't that what it always sounded like?
That's what I thought too...PA guy was new. (Moose guy I understand) I do prefer Richardson to him though.

On kind of the same note...what did people think of Begonia's anthems? I thought she was outstanding...maybe a bit slow, but nonetheless an amazing voice!

No one in New York still thinks Trouba is a top pairing D man! Talk there is how and when can we buy him out!

How awesome would it be if he came in and started doing Cale Makar things right out the gate!

That would take some kind of a miracle. The only thing those 2 have in common is lining up on the right side of the blueline.

Yikes! Went back and looked at the Game Day thread. Guess I was in the minority thinking she was great.

Roslo at C and chemistry. The 2015 line had offense. HCR does not, well not as much.

And those are exactly the same people who thought Pionk didn't belong anywhere in the NHL.

Sometimes players take a season to adapt to a new team. Lets talk about Trouba again a year from now. BTW, Trouba and Pionk have the same number of ES pts, 19 so far.

Maybe, not a given though. Not at all.

I predict a half year in the AHL, and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt.

That's where I'm at right now as well.
