He keeps shuttling between KHL VHL and MHL depending on who's playing. KHL seems to get priority which is weird because they don't bother to give him ice time. You'd figure that they'd be able to find a non-developing player to sit on the bench. He's playing there right now on his KHL team and is listed as the 13th forward.

Honestly hope he is brought over next year. This is one of the few cases where he'd be better off developing under the teams guidance on the Moose then the KHL.

So many weird things going on here.

Rashevsky is the leading goal scorer and 2nd in points despite having 0 goals and 4 assists in the past 23 games, yet he hasn't played above the 3rd line this season. Why would he want to re-sign? Why wouldn't they want their top scorer playing with more talented players? Did they hold him down and use it as a bargaining chip? I'm curious to see if he moves into the top 6 now that he's signed.

No.

Rashevsky plays the 3rd line only on paper. This is typical of KHL, where lineups don't always resemble NHL-style top 2/bottom 2 line formations. Talent tends to be spread out more.

TOI is the best indicator of usage. Rashevsky is currently second in ice time for all wingers on Dynamo.

Frankly, Chibrikov has just sucked.

He was given a perfect opportunity being traded away from SKA (which is a log jam of prospects).
Spartak specifically wanted him in the trade for Nikishin. He was traded with Nashville's Svechkov. Both started slow but Svechkov has turned it up and is doing really well on Spartak recently.
I have no clue what Chibirkov's issue is.

I figured that was part of it, but his ice time and quality of linemates took a solid shot when O'Dell went down. As for Chibrikov he's averaged 7:20, not sure what he's expected to show in that time and if he has in fact sucked, send him down and let him figure it out. Keeping him on the bench and letting him get caved in when he's on the ice doesn't help him or the team.

On Dobber Prospects it lists Chibrikov as having 14 points in 9 games for MHK Spartak Moskva(5 goals, 9 assists). That sure doesnt sound like sucking.....

That's the MHL. Someone of Chibirkov's age and skill level should be tearing that league apart.

I'd agree if the KHL was Chibrikov's only example of poor play. But he hasn't looked as impressive as last year in the VHL either.
And his performance at the recent U20 in St. Petersburg left a lot to be desired. Despite being one of the regular leaders of the 2003s and wearing an A, he looked painfully average vs Kazakhstan U20, Belarus U20 and Russia U18. 1 point in 3 games stat wise too.

Thanks for the feedback. Dam I have carried pretty high hopes for him.

Seems to be doing just that so far. He didnt have a great run in the KHL but i think its a little early to write him off just yet.

What a bummer 1st round pick in Lucius. Not for skill but health. The skill is there but he's made of f***ing glass. Three consecutive season ending injuries that needed surgery before age 20 is not a promising outlook for a pro career.

Somebody needs to get him some milk.

Hopefully this pushes Chibby to come here earlier if the NHL is the goal.

His future is still bright, but he needs to revert back to playing smarter hockey.

Chibrikov is trying to dipsy-doodle around opponents all the time and it’s just not working; especially at KHL level. Plus he needs to use his teammates better and be smarter without the puck. Too many bad habits this season for some reason.

Even so, he did win MVP of a cool 3-on-3 national team exhibition tourney a few months back. Won it over Michkov, Buchelnikov, etc.
Having said that, he had all the time and space in world in the 3-on-3 format.
The talent is definitely still there.

It's a pretty tough stat to search for but... how many NHL players (let alone top 6 NHL players) had 3 consecutive season ending injuries before the age of 20 that needed surgery and still ended up being an at least "good" NHL player?

Nothing against the kid obviously, he looked fire on those Portland highlights over the last month but... What are the odds after this honestly?

someone with good photo shop skillls should put Chaz’s face on these. He’s essentially become the Samuel L Jackson character.

With Lucius playing so well at the WJC and then in the WHL it was looking good for him.

If his development takes another step back it's going to hurt because at the time of the draft I was thinking that Wallstedt would have been a good choice as his age would mesh up well in the event that Helle moves on. And Wallstedt is looking pretty good in the AHL already.

Hopefully Chaz bounces back and Helle extends and it's all moot.

If nothing else, all these injuries to Chaz gives us another underdog prospect to cheer for along with BBB
LOL. I’m not sure that we can afford any more 1st round underdog prospects. They’re piling up.
It all started with Stanley. Or was it Ves? Or was it McGroarty that was drafted too high?

Not sure if this is fair. 1st off we have a just turned 21y/o former 1st round pick in the Calder discussion in Perfetti. Apparently McGroarty is our most asked about prospect and seems to be rising in value, after coming into the season as a highly ranked league wide, already drafted prospect. Lucius does have injury concerns but he was lighting up the WHL with 15 points in 6 games coming off a World Juniors where he was a PPG player. Lambert is a question mark but worth the risk as a 30th selection. Heinola while currently blocked on the Jets but is almost certainly going to be a NHL regular at some point.

The only true bust is Ves, while Stanley would be considered a made it, but not yet an every day player. This probably stacks up better then most teams since it came on the tail of Connor, Ehlers, Morrissey, Trouba and Scheifele.

Stanley was an underdog, but it seemed like nobody was rooting for him. Most people were shitting on him and hoping he'd fail because he's tall and was picked earlier than he ought to have.

The real underdogs that guys were rooting for were guys like niku and petan
