Some Jets prospects doing things for the Moose in their 6-4 win this afternoon:

Multi-point game:

Brad Lambert 1G 1A
Dmitry Kuzmin 2A
Nikita Chibrikov 2A
Tyrel Bauer 2A
Chaz Lucius 1A

Bauer multipoint including that feed from behind the net?

Chibs with a shot block?

Kuzmin called up and contributing?

Astonishing.

In the prospects' tournament I mentioned that on a line that included Barlow-Lucius-Chibrikov Chibrikov was the only one that I saw as a play driver. I see Lucius as a play driver now. He doesn't wow you the same way but he also doesn't frustrate you the same way. He just pushes the play in the right direction and then knows where to be to cap it off. He's a very smart and tidy player.
Just chiming in to support the perspective about Lucius. He really reads the game well, so he's usually in the right position on the ice, and he moves the puck to the right space / player. He isn't afraid to play along the boards and in traffic. Add to that good vision and tools (great hands and a plus shot), and he has good potential. His skating is certainly good enough at this point, and getting better. If he can stay healthy, I think he still has NHL potential as a smart, 2-way C.

One thing that worries me is his lack of goal scoring. He didn't score goals at a high clip in college and now through two AHL forays he has not been able to put the puck in the net. While he is a good playmaker, I'm not sure he's a good enough one to become a top 6 NHL player if he can't translate his goal scoring.

I'm not all that concerned about his scoring prowess. I think he's a natural. He needs a longer run with regular usage, and then I think we'll see his scoring ramp up. He showed good scoring instincts as an NCAA freshman (9 goals in 24) and in the WJHC-20 (5 goals in 7).

There is no way we are trading McGroarty for anyone. Guy has top 6 captain written all over him
I completely agree. He play style reminds me a bit of M Tkachuk, without all the cheap / dirty stuff.

He has a great motor, but he also has a ton of skill and can really make a line with other skilled players a lot better. He seems like a very good complement to a player like Perfetti.

In any case, you don't trade prospects with that skill and character profile. The Jets have plenty of other futures they could offer up if they want to add a significant player for a playoff run.

Unsure if its already been discussed, but is there a reason why McGroarty hasn't been signed to an ELC yet?
The NCAA runs a pretty tight ship. He cannot sign an ELC while playing college as he would forgo his education. I remember calling Duluth looking for a Samberg Jersey and they can’t even sell a logo’d jersey. Zero money can be made by or for college students. Only recently have they made rookie camps available to them, but even then, correct me if I’m wrong anybody, they have to provide their own travel?

It's hilariously easy to notice the Jets' "type" regarding prospects at this point, and there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that they would trade one of their guys. Expect Barlow to follow in Rut's footsteps in the next couple of years. Both should receive plenty of chances to prove themselves in bigger roles here, I reckon.

I believe they have to pay their own way for any NHL type rookie camp.

Any word on if he'll be in tomorrow? Been awhile since he's seen game action.

McGroarty and Salomonsson are my only untouchables for a trade to upgrade the lineup. McGroarty for the reasons you mentioned and Salomonsson as he is literally the only right shooting defense prospect we got.
My list includes Barlow too. McGroarty, Salomonsson and Barlow look to be key foundational players for the next wave, assuming they continue to develop.

I like Lambert, Lucius and Chibrikov too but I’d part with 1 or 2 of them if it meant filling the #2C role with the right guy (a cost-controlled high end player with a few years of team control). Or you wait to see it that guy is Lambert or Lucius.

Right from when he was drafted it was apparent that he had a really rounded game and the only thing holding back from going higher was skating and its not like that is a problem it just needed to progress. The infectious personality and leadership is something you can’t teach and it will be very welcome in Winnipeg. The kid will have a really good career here and he will be very popular. We got really lucky with that pick.

Agreed, but I'm loath to part with those two as well as we are still going to need some players with speed in our top 9 to augment Cole, Gabe, McGroarty, and Barlow.
