You guys really should take a look at Hanzel, he led the whl in +/- and he has a great shot
Honestly he’s been our mvp
guessing it's because he is 20He's looked impressive, strange that he's hardly even listed in draft rankings. I'd have zero issue using a 3rd on him.
Yeah I noticed that immediately after. Still a great showing by him in the postseason. Worth the risk in the 4th or 5th round.guessing it's because he is 20

EDIT: Just noticed he's been passed over twice. Still would be happy to pick him up.
At age 18 he was just another player. At age 20 playing against generally younger players he looks great. That profile usually doesn’t lead to NHL success. How do guys like him slip through the cracks like that? I've been impressed by Hanzel. Decent size, smart with the puck, defensively sound, skates well... what is he missing?

It can still be worth a late pick, I wouldn't object to taking him with a 7th.At age 18 he was just another player. At age 20 playing against generally younger players he looks great. That profile usually doesn’t lead to NHL success.
We should be trying to sign some of these overage kids when they are free agents this off season. He's looked impressive, strange that he's hardly even listed in draft rankings. I'd have zero issue using a 3rd on him.

For the record, they have now given the assist to Lambert. Not sure how they missed the assist on the 1st goal. They credited Guenther (71) instead of Lambert (11).
After four years with the Winnipeg Jets, Gawanke holds lots of frustration in him. "There is no way I'm gonna go there for another year. That is it", says the 23 years old at the World Cup in Finland.
bla bla bla - not even mentioning where he was drafted but kinda crying that they drafted him but never used him - bla bla (...) "You'll never be able to accept that if you work for your efforts and sacrifice yourself and then you're not even getting rewarded", says Gawanke.
Bla bla bla, he scored many goals last season in the AHL. "Over four years I worked my ass off, to say it in German and haven't been rewarded. That obviously is frustrating. Especially when I look at who did get a chance".
He now signed with Adler Mannheim, bla bla - "There is still hope they're going to trade me" says Gawanke in regards to the Jets who still hold his NHL rights.
bla bla next game vs Denmark today with NHL star Nikolaj Ehlers who Gawanke knows from the Jets. "He is one of the fastest player in the world. His shot on the powerplay is world class."
Stanley? Maybe he's pissy that the Jets decided to place him on waivers and keep Samberg up when Samberg didn't need waivers? In any case, is what it is. See ya Gawanke.Leon Gawanke gave an interview with the biggest german sports website/magazin "Kicker"
I'm gonna translate the most interesting parts.
I was quite suprised to see him speak that way about the Jets. Who did get a chance instead of him? Capobianco? Kovacevic? A bit puzzled here. Especially since the Jets lost Kovacevic right away and after all kind of maybe made the wrong move. I mean even Heinola wasn't really prefered to him even though he's a first round pick. What is Gawanke talking about?
*edit*
I contacted someone who's quite connectet inside the Adler Mannheim bubble and he said that Gawanke and the Jets left on bad terms at the end of the season and therefore there most likely really is no chance of him coming back (from the Jets side as well).
Draft and develop May have hit a wall or something. It seems A few prospects upset.Leon Gawanke gave an interview with the biggest german sports website/magazin "Kicker"

That'll happen when you preach draft and develop and then bring in players like Sbisa, Harrison, Bitetto, Eakin, Sanford, Hendricks, Morrow, Beaulieu, etc instead of giving your prospects any sort of opportunity and showing them that you have any kind of trust in them. My favorite thing about the expansion teams is watching players thrive who had just never been given the opportunity before.Draft and develop May have hit a wall or something. Jets need a policy or something to ensure that a certain number of prospects play a few nhl games each year. Perhaps have one forward position rotate in a rookie each evening.
