I agree with this assessment. Lambert was much better in the 3rd than in the first two periods. He has such dynamic speed and mobility with puck control. In the 3rd he started to show it.

I thought Benson was better than Savoie last night. He's such a smart player. Reminds me a bit of Perfetti, but with a stockier build and a bit better skating.
Benson today is 5'9/5'10 and 159ilbs. Perfetti ENTERED the OHL at 185lbs. and is now 5'11 and 185lbs. Not sure how Benson is stockier. Perfetti's IQ is at a different level, but Benson is a smart player.

McGroarty was 2C with USNTDP and 1LW with Michigan, right? I assume Fantilli will turn pro, so that leaves an opening at C for Rutger.

I wonder if Chevy sees him as a C.
I think McGroarty actually has some strong traits to be a centre. He plays a strong reliable game and has good hockey IQ. I may be wrong but I think he has a better chance to be a centre than Lambert. I see Lambert with his speed and lower IQ than McGroarty as more of a winger,

NHL CS does their own measurements in the draft year.

Benson: 5'9" 163lb
Perfetti 5'10" 177lb

I think Perfetti might have had less muscle mass in his draft season.

In any case, Benson seems to have better balance in his skating stance, sort of like Marchand. Maybe that's the difference I'm noting in their playing "stature".

Perfetti does have outstanding IQ. Maybe Benson is a bit more athletic.

I like both of them.

I agree with this. McGroarty would be better if he could gain a bit more quickness in acceleration and agility, but he's a very smart player that distributes the puck well in all zones. He's also diligent and effective defensively.

If Lucius and McGroarty both make it at C, the Jets could be in decent shape.

I agree that Lambert projects better at wing. He'll be most effective with a good facilitator at C to let him be a bit more puck-dominant (like Ehlers). McGroarty and Lucius might be good complements to his style, actually.

I think the goals I have seen from Brad, the velocity on the wrister is definitely not NHL elite. He scores a lot on them though, so he might have something going for him on accuracy and release. It'll be interesting to monitor going forward.

Really nice to have very encouraging years for Lambert, McGroarty, and Lucius (in spite of his injury).

On Chaz, I'm slightly more positive that, having undergone surgery on his shoulder, he may not have recurring issues with it. I'll leave it to the HF orthopedic surgeons and physios to offer the final word on that theory, though.

I like that they each bring something different to the table as well. Same as Perfetti so we should have a more diverse top 9 if they all make it.

Not sure how they missed the assist on the 1st goal. They credited Guenther (71) instead of Lambert (11).
Good chance they review it. They took away an assist from Lambert in his 6 point game against Prince George after the fact.

I mean could be even quicker if you move a few guys for even more prospects and get a nice pick in 2024 ;)
I just worry we won’t have that franchise player/difference maker.

Helle is ours now. Without him, we don’t have much of any “franchise” players

Very true but I come back to the thought that he turns 30 in a few days here. His next contract that should be a big one kicks in when he is 31 and I just don’t think that makes sense for us unless we pull off a retool here. Our team took its shot this year and with all our pending UFA’s there is a good chance that it’s the end of this core and it’s the end of the Helle era.

Brad Lambert looking really good to me. He's 6 feet tall, can skate like the wind, lead a rush, and pick the top corners of the net. I think from what I see, the Jets may have a real steal of a deal in Lambert. Hope so, and would like to see him make the team this upcoming season.

A group of Perfetti, Heinola, Lambert, Lucius, Samberg, Barron, McGoalty, etc... isn't too shabby for youngsters in the system.
It's a really good wave of what can be a great supporting cast.

But Perfetti hasn't been in the system for almost a year now.

This is good future depth and maybe even middle of the lineup players on a contender. but no stars either.

It seems like our goalie from last years class is a better prospect than half this list too which is a nice suprise

Its what a prospect pool looks like when you are alledgely a draft and develop team but you deprioritize drafting for half a decade chasing the playoff high and pick a bit later as a bubble playoff team.

I look at the list and without a good dose of luck it is a league average prospect group. Our org lost its way and we became the Flames/Wild. Always going for it, not bad, but not greeat, goodish but never really good enough to win. No vision, no plan, living paycheque to paycheque.

They needed to reassess after 2020. That is where things went off the rails. Hard to fault them for wanting to try to compete going into 2020 as they didn't know Buff was going to up and quit in TC nor that Little was going to suffer a career ending injury. After that though it should have been apparent that we no longer had the horses and we should have shifted gears much like we did after 2015.

Seattle has shown you can do pretty well with no stars. We should follow that model.
