I'm starting to see why people like McGroarty, lots of hustle and some good poise and vision. Definitely a different type of skill player then what we have atm.

Lucious finds the soft ice well and get his shot off quickly but really doesn't do much else imo. He's an older player for this tournament and really doesn't move the needle enough imo.

McGroarty also seems plenty happy to do the thankless job of sitting in front of the net without many puck touches. And he still does enough to be noticeable without a lot of touches. No idea where to peg his floor or ceiling yet.

Not entirely sure where I stand on Lucius. I thought that Vesalainen had more tools than Lucius at the same age and we know where his development went. I said before that I thought that he'd either need to add a lot of weight/strength to never get knocked off the puck or he'd have to improve his skating to get to the next level and I don't think that's changed all that much. He has plenty of straight line speed once he gets moving but so does AJF.
Maybe he has a decent floor as a tenacious bottom 6 player with a quick release but surely we should expect more than that given his draft position. He's only 1.25yrs removed from his draft and a major injury though so maybe I shouldn't be too quick to be imagining his floor.

Best junior player I've seen. I doubt he translates as well as McJesus but I think Bedard is more dominant against his peers at the same age.

Willingness to go to the dirty areas more like Crosby on that goal just now will definitely help him in the NHL. You don't really see McDavid going right to the front of the net like Bedard did immediately after stepping on the ice.

I agree with both of those points. I also think it is more likely going to need to be him getting much stronger. To me he likes to play the game slow so he is going to need the strength to hold things up. It's what I see on the Moose, he likes to slow the play down but gets closed off quickly and stripped of the puck easily by quicker and stronger players. He really does need to learn to play with much more pace. I'm not at all worried about McGroarty in that regard as he always has his feet moving and involved in the play.

I didn't pay much attention pre-tournament, is there a reason Savoie, Geekie, and Lambos didn't make it? Lambos especially would have made that defense a lot better.

Seems team Canada wanted more of a top 6 and bottom 6 type setup this year and likely figured they had better players for the top 6.

I don’t think Lambos has been very impressive overall this year, but he was an odd exclusion considering he was there last year. Savoie definitely should’ve been on the team.

Would not mind if Bedard goes to Arizona
More chances to watch him play the Jets
By the time he hits his prime the Coyotes might be out of the central division.

Latvia looking better than Finland so far. I haven't been all that impressed with Finland so far this tournament.

I'm somewhat surprised at just how mediocre Finland looks. They're usually consistent year over year in playing a consistent team game. It feels like they've barely left their zone in the 3rd period.

Lambert was ok today. Created and had a couple decent looks. His play off the puck is better and he's tracking back below the goalie in his end constantly. He's not really flashing much skill but his line seems to be playing a simplified game so that is probably how he's being asked to play.

Still a kid that needs a lot of work and imo should go to the Dub after this tournament.

I'm definitely becoming more and more of a fan of McGroarty. Like his combination or tenacity/skill.

Lucious once again was largely invisible in the portions I watched.
