I agree with this wholeheartedly -- you have to give Maurice some credit, playing with a whole new defence, and we`re still playing well. Not many teams could lose just about their entire starting defense and be over 500 this far into the season. We`re looking good--and having Helle playing lights out, sure doesn`t hurt.

Maurice only gets crapped on in these forums, but rarely given any positive recognition, when he has the team playing really well, especially with our depleted team.

Way to go MO :thumbu:
Couldn't agree more , we are gonna get lit up now though for saying something not bad about Maurice .

If Roslovic can keep playing like this and Little is able to come back this season we could have 3 very good lines . Little goes on the 3rd line with Lowry and Copp , hope to see this later this season . Oh and Roslovic becomes the 2nd center putting Wheeler on the wing but i'm getting ahead of myself , just keep playing like last night boys .

Mo finally breaks up the bromance that many have been demanding for almost a year and the result was completely as we knew they would be...

This. And some of us demanded that every now and then since 16-17 when that odd phenomenon started. Almost three years hip jointed with mixed results. Sometimes very good, often not so much and most of the time a defensive liability for the team. Just that in 17-18 they were usually able to overcome that with their production.

Is the narrative that Helle "bailed us out"? Really?

Demko had equally as many game saving stops as Helle did, if not more.

I think Demko was leading the league in GAA and save percentage so not so bad that our goalie matched/exceeded him.

Helly has been great this season but yeah, this was a team win last night.

Things that impressed me with this win

I really liked the play of this Luoto - like to see more of him, and could be a great replacement for a Tanev type player --which we need. I never heard of him, but he made an impact on that game.
The Jets have go to fit him in and see what he can do.

Very impressed with the continual improving play of Roslovic. He`s playing with more confidence and determination than I`ve ever seen out of him, and he looks like he could become a star for the Jets. This Roslo guy keeps on getting better and better.

In this win, I really liked the play of Connor, Roslovic and Hellebuyck. If Helle can keep playing like this and perform like a Vezina Goalie this year, and post great numbers, we have a great chance to make the playoffs. No doubt about that.

Also very much liked splitting up Wheeler and Scheif --and I`ve been calling for Wheeler to play center on that 2nd line for a couple years. He`s a great set up man, and this also gives our team more balance.

The lines should stay like this IMO and when Little comes back, I`d put him on the 3rd line, giving us 3 great scoring lines, and we`d be tough to beat.

Just finished the game. Too many pizzas and Helle had to stand on his head due to it, but the forward lines looked to have more jump. Less defensive breakdowns causing to chances which is nice to see, just need more responsibility with the puck.

I could never understand the valuation that the analysts around the league would give Trouba. He was solid defensively most of the time, but routinely made a lot of bad decisions with the puck. Highly over-rated and over-paid IMO. I expected very little from Pionk but he's doing better than I thought he'd do.
Also Trouba is awful on the PP. Blasts through crowds all day. You can't tell me 25% of his points weren't from passing it off on the PP (which he was gifted) to someone else who made the play.

Trouba is sooo overrated.

Well i've heard Myers had utter crap as playing partners in Winnipeg compared to Vancouver , ya that's right Myers played with crap the whole time in Winnipeg , OK .

I can’t even remember who he played with. If it was Kulikov there may be some truth to it.

The biggest takeaway from this game (which will go completely unnoticed by Paul Maurice) is how energized Wheeler and Scheifele finally we’re... while apart from each other.
That’s a loud and clear message.
Wake up call. They want to impress so they can be put back together.

I’ve been really impressed with Roslovic’s growth so far this year, and again tonight. He seems to have a little more speed and a little more tenacity. I think he’s going to be a top 6 player.
Coming into the year I was confident that he'd be a middle six forward. He already has beaten that expectation imo. I think we're seeing his maturation off the ice too.

It was mostly Kulikov but they were playing third pairing minutes. Not to defend Kulikov but he’s currently playing over his head.
Agreed , Myers can play but he's not a top pairing defenseman and he's definitely not worth 6 million a season and not anywhere near good enough to signing and not having room for Connor or Laine .

It’s incredible how much separation he put between himself and those guys so quickly. His acceleration is amazing.
I love how the goalie had no clue what Connor was going to do with the puck and was going in the opposite direction , Ole young goalie Ole .

Missed most of the game, can someone clarify what the PP units were?
Also what was up with Lowry passing on the EN at the end? Trying to get Copp a point?

Couldn’t say it any better.
Mo forced into doing the right thing again.
Ehlers and Roslovic are dynamite together.

Lol, love how quickly and ignorantly some will try to discredit Maurice when his coaching has impact and things go right, almost as quickly as they blatantly blame him for anything that goes wrong .

He wasn’t forced into anything, could have left the first line intact, could have slid Rosie into the middle on the second line, and he definitely wasn’t forced into changing the PP units.

He choose to change them up, and by changing up he completely flipped everything. None of you were suggesting anything close to the line configs we saw last night, other than breaking up Wheeler and Scheif

He wasnt forced by anything , they were his choices.
