i would like to say in all this though Ehlers is looking like an absolute stud. i really hope he has a big year and gets the recognition he deserves. he gets shuffled around all over doesnt sulk and just plays. kids a stud. with an overly large chin
Yep, he is looking dominant out there. I am beginning to notice how opponents now cover him with several players, because he is so dangerous, thus creating space for other Jets players. I think he is well respected around the league.

Laine relegated to the 2nd line, AGAIN? What a ****ing joke.

Maurice needs to go.
I don't think Laine was "demoted" for punitive reasons in this game. LCC was effective at the start of the season and the top line was getting nowhere. Made sense to move some talent down in the hope of creating offense from a better matchup.

Sure they could have sent Wheeler down instead but that line has no track record at all. The game was still in reach and they were trying to win.

That is not to say that we shouldn't try line combinations that separate Scheifle and Wheeler. We absolutely should.

Funny how the reaction changes from a three game winning streak where things are working, and then lose a game and we're back to firing everyone.

I think the goalie controversy is on hold for now.

why do i get the feeling that its all about making 1 line work? the Wheeler-Scheifele line and getting 2 guys to produce... every thing else come second. Ehlers, Laine, ehlers next game Connor.. then back to laine then maybe ehlers or who knows Laine or Connor. maybe try something else next time

55 and 26 cannot be separated - you should know that, everybody knows that. It is a cosmic truth. It has been written in stone ever since cave paintings was invented

Could see that loss coming all the way. Lafreniere will be a nice piece for us at least.

Zone entries in powerplay are terrible. Someone drops to Scheifele, he goes all alone either trying deke past 2-3 guys or dump it in while everyone else is standing flat footed on the blue line... Easy defense for the opponent.

They need to figure out something because it's getting so predictive there's almost no point even trying. Or just get Ehlers on PP1 and let him to do his things :D

This team was always gonna be a bubble team this year. Hopefully we lose a few more games like this soon because with any luck that will get Maurice fired. He is no good for us anymore

Depends who you ask. Objectively, beating Minnesota and Chicago was nothing. The Pittsburgh win was impressive but was more than cancelled out by this turd of a game tonight.

So maybe the caveman who wrote it should be let to do his paintings somewhere else?

I was at the game tonight.

It was not pretty to watch.

Some real struggles on the back end. Not just Bitetto either. Morrissey was pretty bad. Kulikov was nothing special, but hey why are we playing him on his offside.

Dahlstrom was better than Bitetto but I was angry when he missed the net walking down Main St. in the 2nd. That's not how you stay in the lineup.

It took me one rotation to figure out Heinola wasn't in. Why wasn't he in? Nobody knew at the game.

Forwards looked flat, couldn't battle for the 50-50 pucks.

I am not going to crap on this team too much. They lost to a non-conference opponent having to fly further on a back to back than the visiting team. I think the lack of legs was a travel issue. Nobody really had them, save maybe Ehlers and Roslovic. Pionk was good on defense, but he was out there on his own.

I'll give the Pens some credit. Crosby was good out there, especially in the draws, and just dangerous a lot, with less talent around him. Letang didn't lose too many battles either.

You forget about a game like that and keep trucking. 2-0 vs. the division is what I am looking at. Keep winning the big games boys. Hopefully a losing lineup precipitates some changes for Tuesday.

Or Morrissey carries it up then dumps it in when he gets to the blue line. An uncomfortable similarity to Meyers.

They just played through a grueling schedule of games and a back-to-back, so I'm fine with the result. They were just tired tonight and they aren't going to win every one. Tonight is one to forget is all.

Nobody should be fired, otherwise it would have happened by now, and some of these comments are ridiculous with no knowledge of how the Jets are run. We are damn lucky for the people who are putting in hard work to ensure this team has a roster this year, so I am grateful... GJG onto the next game!

Laine was worse than wheeler but wheeler was the ****s. Just like the rest of the team.

Sorry I don’t have a love affair with Laine or a hard on for hatred of Wheeler.

I call it how I see it.

Not my problem you don’t see it the same way.

Then you just see wrong. Focus on wrong things. Wheeler was -4, every powerplay died on his stick, he personally passed or shot the puck out of offensive zone in each PP, in some several times. At least one of them caused short handed goal against, where he gifted a breakaway to penguins. Blind passes out of zone, once he had a shooting lane from high slot after Laine passed it to him but he turned away from goal didn't shoot, got pressured and skated the puck out of the zone losing possession at the blueline.

Laine messed up trying to deflect the puck in that one goal, he still has a lot to learn how to play in front of your own net.

Why is it so hard for you to see it when Wheeler plays awful, Paul? I would try someone else at the half wall in PP1, and bring Ehlers to 1st line with Scheifele and Laine.

There was a shot on TV where both captains were highlighted split screen sitting on the bench and Paul had his hands on Blakes shoulders, not sure if he needed a massage? It was just a second or two of video, but a perfect summary of what I see as the biggest problem for Jets.

You can't emphasize enough what Buff brings to a PP, size to control the puck, a shot that you have to respect, and good vision and stick too. Morrissey is no replacement for him. Ideally the 2nd PP is Morrissey and Pionk. Yeah the PP struggled exactly as you described it. Laine had one good shot that I can remember. But they just didn't move their feet tonight, top to bottom. You can paste the coach page upon page, but the lack of legs, especially from key players, like Scheifele, Connor and Morrissey in not a winning recipe.
