Kompon is in charge of the PP.
Who's in charge of Kompon?

I like Niku, he’s not the answer to the PP problems.

It needs some practice.

You know what's wrong with the PP?
The Jets are wimps ... nobody goes to the net.
A goalie can stop the majority of the shots he can see and a goalie who can't see the puck ... can't stop it.

Hey, I’m not convinced the season will be a write off. You hang in there and add Buff as a rental in Dec or Jan and maybe even Samberg in spring and things could align for playoffs. To me it’s simple. Plug away and make the playoffs. From there anything can happen with our offense and a hot goalie, key is shoring up D. Lots of ifs but I’m enjoying season so far.

That I like!

If we hang in and Buff returns who knows? I am just enjoying the ride this season.

Small sample but Laine-Scheifele-Wheeler line so far on the season doesn't look much better than last season.

I am not sure one can blame him from splitting that line given stats like those esp if he intends to play that line 15-17 minutes at 5 on 5 every night against top competition. Although I sympathize with those saying that maybe splitting up Scheifele-Wheeler should be something that is considered.
Neither Laine nor Wheeler were playing well at all. There has to be consequences for everyone on the team equally or it’s not going to go over very well with the team.

Ehlers and Connor both looked pretty good, could have tried the two of them with Schiefele. Could have tried something other than his one move he keeps repeating.

I had high hopes that this season was going to be different but aside from the Laine move for a couple of games (where he led the league in a lot of stats) I haven’t seen anything to indicate that yet. Only that 1st line left wing gets changed regardless of anything that happens.

I hope when Little comes back they keep Rosie at C and Maurice rescues Lowry from the house of horror he has him locked in.

Hands up who saw the Jets surviving the PK with Lowry, Testube and Potato out there?

Honestly, what does anyone see in Gabe Bourque that we couldn’t have already provided in house? The guy is a faster Letestu, that’s it.

Ok Buff, enough already. Time to come back, jokes over.

PP1 still suffers from a lack of motion and slow puck movement. Wheeler , Laine and Morrissey most guilty of it last night. Connor trying to win battles on the wrong side of the puck can stop anytime. He’s been horribly soft/lazy on the PP. I’d throw Ehlers in there to shake things up.

Move the pieces around all you like, until they start dishing the puck around faster and getting the PK to move around, it’s going nowhere.

Yeah any team can win the playoffs and any team can win a playoff series, but usually the better team moves forward. The Jets had been a one line team (and they still partly are as such) for the past years that ran fully non-functional second line on aside. A team that could not explore and take advantage of that massive depth, because they followed Maurice's playbook and he was the one the make the final calls and deploy the lines.

The keyword here is usually. Last spring for example there were several examples of worse teams moving forward. Columbus would not in a million years beat Tampa in an 82 game series, but they did in a best of seven format. Islanders swept Penguins in four rounds as well, nobody would have predicted it. Other SC favourite teams like Nashville and Washington fell out in the first round as well.

Should all these teams that lost out early in the playoffs throw their coaches out as well? IMO this year's playoff results in particular demonstrate why regular season success is a better measure of the coaching level. In the playoffs we usually see small miracles with "hot" goaltenders like Binnington and a team gaining the momentum by winning e.g. an OT game. All teams in the modern NHL are simply too close in talent to be deciding what team is coached better based on a best of seven series.

Wonder why he didn’t make a change on our 4th line with awful numbers. Insert a new player maybe?
Plus I don’t mind Ehlers on top line, but break up the other two just once and it would make for better team dynamics. Just once. And it would make for better team dynamics. Is there an echo in the room?

Why would it make for better team dynamics? Wheeler wants to play with Scheifele and Scheifele wants to play with Wheeler, that much is obvious. Laine has lately come out multiple times saying he wants to play with the two aforementioned, because they are the best players of the team. All you are achieving by breaking that line up is a bunch of unhappy players, so the argument that it would improve "dynamics" makes no sense to me.

Breaking up Scheif and Wheeler for one period when they struggle like everyone else shows everyone is treated the same when they struggle. It shows other guys on team that coach is consistent in doing same for all players that are having a bad game. It’s for one period and then you can go back to them next game. Moving everyone around but them isn’t always best for a room. Plus how could it be bad to get a look at Scheif with other guys for a period, it could create a spark that game and start a comeback or show us a potential line if Wheels ever got hurt. I see zero issues with doing it and feel it only makes sense to do once a year.
