Chevy had a good oppurtunity to add something decent to help before we hit this rock bottom. A few chances, and he stuck with doing nothing. Lets watch him do a waiver pick up to add to our 8 4th liners. 3rd place, chance to actually do some playoff damage, win a series or 2. And he sticks to his normal crap.

I take it they want to wait until we are true top cup contenders, Pens, Hawks, etc. Wake up call Chevy, atleast 6-7 years until that. And 3/4 of our small core of 5-6 guys will be too old then. Wake up... Noel is fine, its Chevy that is garbage.

We could have added something past days, not Iginla or Jagr, but a decent forward or so to help. Without getting away from building the future. Deal a mid prospect or Burmi, and 1 of our 3 2nd rounders.

We have ZERO organizational depth what do you propose we give away to add these players. We did not have a chance to do damage in the playoffs. They intend to build this team like Detroit or Nashville or San Jose when players start to age you have depth in your prospect pool to replace them.

Dont sell. Come on guys, we are still in 3rd are we not? We are in the middle of a playoff hunt with 10 games left. I understand, we are not cup contenders. But we can still be a playoff team. Every team has streaks. We just have to break out of this one. I agree we need to shake up something tomorrow, but not sell sell sell.

Leafs fan here. I love the winnipeg jets fanbase and how they support their team and want to see this team make the playoffs. The race is getting extremely close now. If the caps pick up 3 points from the 2 games in hand, this team is going to fall out of their playoff spot. Every single point matters from this point on. Next 4 games = flyers, sabres, panthers, lightning. All winnable games, and at this point have become must wins. Hopefully the boys can pull it off, or it's very unlikely the Jets are going to have a post-season

Thank you. Nice whenever you see a Leaf fan care about another team

Habs in aswell. The boys are backs against the wall, I said that before tonight. I just keep turning on my tv hoping they come out flying, and turn it around. The canes, Caps have tough games coming up, we need another strong run, and those games agianst them will be must win's. If we can make it exciting to the last couple games, I wont be as angry as if we keep diving, and in 2 games it looks impossible, and over.

Your forgetting that we play Washington and Carolina again this season...so technically if we win every game CAR and WSH max points is 59...

Correct, but the point still stands that our fate has left our hands.

We need to play our ***** off in the last few games to have a shot, hopefully a playoff atmosphere can give them a boost at home in the last few.

You don't have to trade a 1st, Scheif, Trouba, and Lowry to get a middle 6 RW, or someone that can at least bump Mittens down a line. I don't know why you people act like we are. :shakehead We need a shakeup of some sort but I think Chevy will most likely wait till the off season to make any drastic changes. Either way, he needs to put his stamp on this team as he has yet to really do so. Scheif in the NHL next year will be a big part of that honestly though.

Did you see the way we played to get into that 3rd spot. Playing the way we could, getting a 6th place seed 1st round. Yes we did have a shot at doing some damage. Atleast getting a series win. You would be crazy to say we wouldn't. I just think it has gotten out of control and it will take a huge effort, and a bit of luck to get out of it.

It has for sure. We need probably at least 6 wins and 1 ot loss to get a real chance at playoffs. Key is that two of those wins come against WSH and CAR.

i like how one season of evaluation and three months of actual hockey was enough for you to establish "normal".

we are the new leafs, the amount of fallen sky in this thread is ridiculously commical.

relax..

the sun will rise

the world will turn

chevy won't alter from the plan (for the upteenth time) and those wanting action will be left wanting.

yes we have a lot of passengers, but how anyone can think "these guys are garbage!" while at the same time expecting anything of use in return is beyond me. the two are mutually exclusive.

i also would have been very much against shipping a second for any of the aforementioned players (all of who had no term after this year)

third place is an illusion. we are a bubble team in a division of bubble teams. this is not a year we were ever going to "do some damage" in the playoffs, but it was (and still is imo) a year we must get our feet wet.

I still believe we can do that without significantly acquiring any assets, and could probably still sneak into 8th even if we were to be 'sellers'.

I'd love to win the southeast, but i'm not willing to lose any assets to do it, as long as we still make the playoffs- something that isn't a guarantee, but isn't far enough away imo to justify acquiring the pieces being bandied about.

I'm not opposed to adding a middle 6 player at all, if the price is right. It is really not going to alter this teams immediate future very much though IMO.

C'mon, it doesn't really take a GM a whole year to evaluate things. Even if he's been in the league awhile. Chevy just clearly has a master plan in mind(as in mainly building on the current youth we have and drafting). He's clearly a very passive GM and almost comes across as scared to make a mistake. But we'll see what happens by the deadline tomorrow and this offseason. I imagine by next season we'll see a lot of different faces.

Not sure why people keep blaming Thrashers in what is happening in the Peg.

Did Thrashers draft Scheifele when Couturier was still avail ? Did Thrashers sign Jokinen? Did Thrashers were super passive in 2 off seasons and 2-nd trade dead-line (unless we will be surprised). Did Thrashers appoint Chevy and most important Noel?

What did we change (given a fact we could)? Pointing blaming fingers isn't going to help us become winning team. Excuses are for losers ;)

I think if jets win at least 6 out of 10, ie have a good run, they will have 50 pts. Caps need to win at least 7 out of 12 and canes need to win 8 out of 13 to get to 50. Now looking at canes schedule, they have it tough so low chance they win 8. Caps are the ones to look out. The caps vs jets game just looked a whole lot bigger now if it didn't already. A must win for sureeeeee! There is still hope though. Jets need to bounce back ASAP!!!!

We had a few pretty good games and a lot of game where we got a quick goal or two and hung on for dear life. Someone mentioned this before I think our goal differential tells you a little bit about how this team has played. We had a shot to win a couple of games against the Rangers or Leafs sure. Win a couple of series, not a chance.

Idk, replacing a guy who's on pace for about 20 points over a full season with one that could easily double that is a pretty big difference. Can't imagine it would cost anything higher then a 2nd for it if the guy is signed through next year.

I really wish people would stop claiming that the Jets made a mistake here without Schiefele even being given a real chance in the NHL.

He said "a series", not a couple of series.

We also have the 4th worst goal differential....

Couturier slipped since his offensive upside was perceived as limited. Has he IN ANY WAY managed to dispel that question mark? Honestly, if Couturier was here people would be deriding that fact that he was rushed and ruined his offensive upside ala Burmistrov...

Anyone deriding Cheveldayoff for that pick probably has some sort of agenda against him, I'm not saying he's a perfect GM but knocking him for that pick already is just reaching since it's too early to tell. Mark hasn't even been given an actual shot at the NHL yet really not to mention Couturier only has 9 points this season.

I cant wait until the jets trade for malkin and stamkos
Then Little can move to the wing
Solves all of the problems

at what point are people allowed to suggest that this team might have some issues?

I'm positive it is Chevy's goal to be the first team to win the Stanley Cup with a team acquired completely on waivers.

i actually wouldn't mind a rental player or two....to me, shedding the loser ethic this franchise has had since its inception is as important as anything....yes we need to build to the future, but i don't see how giving a couple of second rounders away for a player who might get us into the playoffs is mortgaging that....show our core of players what it is like to make the playoffs...establish that ethic in the franchise...

there is a 75% chance those second rounders would be nothing anyways.....long term establishing a winning culture on the team is just as important....teams like detroit win not only because they have good players, they win because they expect to....we dont....this team has done this for years....show signs of something good and then collapse.....that needs to change and maybe a rental player would show them that ownership cares about winning RIGHT NOW, not always a few years from now if Scheifele actually ever becomes something.....its time to lose the maybe in the next 5 years mantra and build through the draft...do something now.

with realignment we may not get this close to being the third seed in the conference for a very long time...this could be our best chance to go into the first round and play a bottom half team instead of the top seed.....this is our chance, just giving up is a waste...you never know when we will be this close again...
