These two point wins against teams are huge this year.
Two more against the Flames and then two against the Sens. It'd be nice to take at least 6 clean points of those 8 points available.
Flames play McDavid in between the 3rd and 4th game with us in this series.

Brossoit would have even better stats and the Jets have an even better record if they didnt decide to play like crap for the last 5 mins of that Edmonton game a few weeks ago too. I consider that a bit of a fluke, so in reality we should be even better.

Just one Dostoevsky for that collective third period sag.

Stanley and DeMelo struggled a bit and where victimized a number of times by for chances against. I am not really sure what happened to DeMelo's ability to move the puck in his own end but it has really been sub par.

Also this team needs to stop taking its foot off the gas in the third period. They need to keep the peddle on. I hate when we sit back and start to soft gap.

I have to strongly disagree with bolded. DeMelo hardly looked like an NHLer to me. I saw a vet getting bailed out by a raw rookie a few times.

Everything else from your comment that I quoted here I'm 100% agreed on.

i mean, he's a professional, but wondering if missing the first week of games has lead to a slow/subpar start. that and having a crying baby at home, perhaps.
otherwise, i hope we don't have a dud.

Good points, I am sure missing a week and being a new parent have definitely played a role. I think he will still be a decent player for us but I will have no issue if Heinola, Samberg all push him down.

Who knows if JoMo can transition to RD we could run this moving forward:

Heinola JoMo
Samberg Pionk
Stanly DeMelo

DeMelo struggled but it was a back to back and he hasn't played or practiced enough so he gets a pass

Really hope once Beaulieu plays his games they can get either Heinola or Samberg in. He just shouldn't be on the top pairing

He didn't do too badly tonight but made a couple of miscues and was pretty slow moving the puck at times. I hope he is place holding for Heinola though as if JoMo plays like he did tonight but with having another smart partner that can really move the puck I think it will look real good moving forward.

I don't know if I've seen a game that made me angrier than this one. At least not for a while. Weak weak calls on the Jets. 2 hooks and a slash that weren't hooks or slashes, and Big Dive Dave with a heck of a performance on Scheifele's goalie interference call.

Meanwhile, Tkachuk can use his stick to turn Brossoit, no problem. The thing that pissed me off the most is how little our guys seem willing to fight for each other or at least for the win. Nobody making Tkachuk answer for his bs, and we let ourselves get outshot 16-5 in the final frame.

I could do with a few more trades, tbh.

Imagine if they lost!

I'd really like to see Samberg play -- I just wonder why their not playing the guy ? I hear he's a great fast skater, he's big, and physical. You'd think the Jet's would give him a shot out there, unless he's not ready yet ??

Wheeler looked lost on the Flames first goal, but I thought tonight, effort-wise, was his best game. I felt both him and Scheifele had more jump.
Stanley looked good, Pionk had his best game. Ehlers was solid. Copp, Lowry and Appleton all looked great. Broissoit had a fantastic game.

I'm feeling confident that this team can do some damage this season.
Connor and Ehlers can stickhandle through a box of toothpicks.
Our forwards and goaltending are well above average.
If we can commit as a team to playing defense we will be ok.

Not sure what our D should look like. I'm thinking:
JoMo. DemeLo
Forbort Pionk
Stanley Heinola

Maybe I need to watch that goal again but on the 1st watch it didn't seem like the guy who scored was his man.

They likely or at least Maurice, don't want to run 2 rookie D
