Let me offer a mea culpa here: I was one of many who derided the Stanley pick, but he has shown (through 10 games) that he can fit in at the NHL level. I have always expected the worst and hoped for the best with him. If he can carve out a 6 year career as a 5/6 D man, I think that would be a win for him. Better than I anticipated, at least. Was it worth trading up in the first round to get him? I don't know, but he's making the most of his opportunity at the moment.
Loving Lowry, Copp and Appleton these last two games. Wheeler at 15 min is totally fine by me. Cutting a couple of minutes of 5 v 5 time and any high leverage minutes at the end with a lead is just about perfect. If we are chasing a game and need to take on some risk to try and even it up, by all means throw him out there.
