The biggest statsnerds ALWAYS find a way to twist things so that the stats support their argument lol

To truly love analytics you need PhDs in cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias
I had a prof once who said, "If someone quotes the Bible or statistics to buttress their argument, you'll know they have a weak argument." I'm not sure that I agreed with her, but I think 55% of the class did.

Sorry you can't see what a poor D man he is. Most everyone else can.
He blongs in the minors
He had a couple of good games out of how many?
He was shit yesterday. Did you see the 4 minute minor he took? For no good reason?
That's a terrible argument but thanks for playing.

I pay very close attention to Stanley every time he's on the ice, especially because his detractors are so vocal. You know what's funny about that? Outside of a specific instance where he makes a mistake, they mostly just throw out generic bull shit like he blongs in the minors.

I already said that was a stupid play. I also already said that he had an awful third period.

Did you see any of the other plays he made last night? Were they ALL terrible? Did he make any nice plays? I bet you can't name one because you just want to harp on the bad stuff and shit on him.

Good day, sir.

If nothing useful is going to come from the discussion as everyone is entrenched in positions I’d rather non-hockey stories like @Stumbledore and @GeorgeJETson as those were at least entertaining.
I don't think anyone comes in here for a useful purpose, they just like to argue or discuss hockey.

Mind you, I think some of the personal stories in here have been wonderful and I'm happy to take the blame/credit for encouraging it.

But it’s not even a discussion anymore, it’s here’s my 5 sticking points over and over again.

I liked the stories.

I see what you did there.

EDIT: What was that life-changing thing you alluded to a few days ago back in BC?

I did watch him and I was at the game against the Ducks.
He made some passes that cleared the zone but that is his job, isn't it?
When he is being pressured by an opposing player, he panics and just gets rid of the puck. It's not just me noticing this either...lots of guys I talk hockey with are mentioning this.
The few games he played okay was a barely adequate 3LHD and those were some of his best games!
He's okay as a 5LHD playing on the Moose waiting for injuries. Nothing more. I mean, he doesn't even know when (or how) to fight. The game against Boston, the Bruins' player went at him, he didn't really have a choice.
You keep on sticking up for him though, maybe in 3 or 4 years he will be an adequate 4LHD.

I am not sure if I read it anywhere in the summary but I really like the 1st goal the Jets scored last night. That was as greasy as it gets, and even though if was an own goal, it's that attack the net mentality that works. Also would have been Heinola's first assist if Blankenburg hadn't pushed the puck over the line. Barron and Kupari seem to be gelling, and I am sure they are making a case to the coach that if the team adds in the top 6, they shouldn't be the ones to come out of the lineup.

Well, I only had one interesting story, so unless I continue that one, you're all outta luck

@Stumbledore tells us the story of you and your wife’s first date. What’s the next chapter?

To make it bout hockey Stanley sucks blah, blah, blah.
No way. I'm not into the touchy feely stuff, unless it's getting the cat lady to share which is way more interesting than, as you so optly put it, the same 5 sticking points over and over.

Besides, wasn't our first date, was how we met. Which was entirely by chance being in a random spot when it suddenly began chucking it down. When you find yourself weighing a big life decision and trying to balance all the pros and cons, helps to realize how your biggest life changes are often the result of totally insignificant shit just hitting at random.

Disagree.

 I can't quote you every bad play I saw him make. I'd have to sit down with you and go over it play by play. You might disagree with some of my assessments, but not all. There were some that would be inarguable. He was either doing the wrong thing, or doing the right thing badly, all night.

To some extent, I defer to you on Dmen, not always. Not this time. But we can agree to disagree on this one.

Which player should sit if not one of them?

OH SHIT I DIDN'T KNOW THAT SOME OTHER GUYS YOU TALK HOCKEY WITH WERE MENTIONING IT.

I'll stand down now

I also enjoy the pepersonal side of things in here. The OT threads are some of my faves

Probably a good thing I stopped mine when I did. It gets a whole lot worse later

What subject was that? Sounds like something in the Humanities...

There once was a man from Trent, whose member was so long that it bent. To save trouble, he put in double, and instead of coming he went... That man was not me. And I can say that I learned a lot of inappropriate songs and limericks from Mac Lean and Mac Lean's Toilet Rock.

Maybe appropriate for Stanley's stick use last night though.
