Post-Game Talk: Jets 4 - Coilers 3

Connor and Scheif played 24 minutes on 22 shifts. Getting back all the bad habits, cheating for offense, taking long shifts looking for just one more offensive sniff, never changing in the offensive zone. If they continue to play like that in the playoffs we won't go anywhere.

You have a point with the fatigue. For example Early on the game KC was strong on the puck and forecheck and it waned as the game went on

Whole team looked off, but better than vs Canucks

Still, they were on the ice for the ot winner, so hopefully a bit of rest and they’ll be good

I think we are missing pionk.

Time to buy a KFC hat?
Yes!

We got the win and put an extra point between us and Dallas so that was big.

Pretty underwhelming effort in the third though. Pretty lazy defending, not enough body checking and too many stick swings.

Helle with another rough game but battled through it. As I said, I'd much rather he slump now then in the playoffs.

Defense wasn't sharp tonight and I thought that was probably the first game that Schenn's lack of foot speed was an issue. He was being forced into making rushed plays all night.

The bottom pairing still isn't inspiring much confidence and I'd get Ville in as our pp needs a spark and his puck moving could help unit two.

JoMo came up big offensively but not one of his better defensive efforts.

Snerg continues his good play.

Top line didn't do much of anything tonight other then on the OT winner. Mark needs to get back to being assertive in the ozone, he's being too passive around the outside lately. Vilardi has largely been invisible and KC is uncharacteristically missing chances he usually buries.

Second line continues their strong offensive play but were not as sharp defensively as they usually are. Too much puck watching on the second Oilers goal.

Third line was moderately better tonight but need to build off of this game.

Fourth line was our best line tonight. Just a lot of jam and chemistry.

PP continues to look bad. I'd probably change some things up on it in practice over the next two days.

Getting Ville on PP 2 in order to add another QB so that teams can't just shadow Cole would be a start and tell pp1 to start moving again.

agree with most but thought scheifele made some really nice passes tonight to set up chances and I don't think samberg played very good at all he was making some really poor passes tonight

It's also so unnecessary with how deep this team is upfront. The second line can take a couple more shifts as can the fourth. There isn't nearly the same pressure for them to do all the scoring like in some past years.

The coach needs to get the shift length under control. Start double shifting other lines of the first line extends.

The coach also needs to find some dmen he trusts so that JoMo isn't running on fumes by the playoffs.

Took a nap before the last game and we lost. Decided to stay awake tonight and we won...

Not the best showing by our Jets, but at the end of the year they don't ask you how you win, just how many you win. I give this game three "The A Teams" out of five...

Schief looked tired. Kc was the only one moving on 5 on 3. So, if anything Ehlers should have been the one with fresh legs on pp.

The intensity is not there and that’s understandable … Jets just coasting to the playoffs. The Stars game was the last one where the Jets played hard because it meant something.
I was watching the Stars and Bolts during intermission and I never saw such a boring OT … it’s like they didn’t want to make a mistaken instead of trying to win. The shootout was the entertainment.

A win is always satisfying.
I guess but winning like this is what led to them getting caught in an "Avalanche" last playoffs.
No mcdavid for third or Drisatil at all. Hopefully, it is just fatigue but this play is not sustainable for playoff success. Still nice to see them firmly entrenched in 1st in the west and credit to Edm for not folding.

Powerplay zone entries were pretty good. Seemed to adjust to Edmonton trying to throw a wrench in the gears so that was a good sign.

Not at all crazy about the game as a whole though.

Hellebuyck with a couple of weak ones...he needs to figure it out, but some of it is just shit-happens regressions chickens coming home to roost.
