Just once I would like to see Bones in the dressing room addressing the team by telling them frankly you played like shit and got lucky and then walk out.
No, but being a one-man team going into the playoffs isn’t ideal, especially when this team CAN play much better.Going into tonight, Hellebuyck was currently 1.3% above the league average SV%; over his 1,683 shots, that's 21.9 more goals than average and (on average) almost 8 points in the standings, putting us in WC5, 5 points behind Nash whose games in hand give us like no chance.
Having said that, a goaltender is just as much part of a team as anyone else. Should Edmonton feel shame because they have strengths in forward and shit in net?
One more quick look at the Sawyer Cam TM

I’m happy for the two points but there’s some work to be done still.
Well, this is the Jets board, not the Oilers board, which is probably a big reason you don’t see that. And I think a lot of people do recognize the Oilers are basically Drain and McDavid against the world. They’ve been criticized for their roster building both here and elsewhere.I'm amazing you posted that image while not following up with the relevant $10 word "contrecoup"
I agree of course, this team absolutely has to get it together. I guess I just wanted to make clear that I don't see much difference with "Oilers were shit, McDavid carried them" and "Jets were shit, Bucky carried them"; some people do think that highrolls by "special" positions (like QB or kicker or pitcher) are somehow more lucky and less honest. If that makes sense?

That would require an extremely old school athlete to acknowledge the idea that luck exists in athletics; ol' Jurassic Bones might be the last man I'd expect that from. But you're right. Even Patches O'Houlihan reminded Average Joe's that they got lucky against the Germans in the first round
If the Jets can get Scheifele, Connor and PLD scoring, and out of their slumps, we could make some noise in the playoffs, but if they don't get their act together soon, we won't go very far, and be out in the 1st round. I don't know what the answer is to get them going ??
He is in the worst slump that I've ever seen him in. 10 games left to shake it before the playoffs.Amazingly Connor has gone 11 games without a goal and 6 without a point.

In any case, I’d rather be carried by goaltending than let down by goaltending … you can’t just exclude goaltending from the equation. Otherwise the Leafs would be like four-time defending Cup champs, at least according to their fansOf course you are correct about this being the Jets board, but obviously this board is not the only place I rant about hockey and while I agree with you that most everyone understands the oilers are top-3 heavy, even acknowledging that, "being carried by a player in an ordinary position" seems to have much less "luck stigma" associated with it among most fans than "being carried by a player in a special position"; I'm talking about a trend across all teams, across all fanbases, across all sports.
lol not those Germans, I meant these Germans
All I can say is . . . that's a long sentenceOf course you are correct about this being the Jets board, but obviously this board is not the only place I rant about hockey and while I agree with you that most everyone understands the oilers are top-3 heavy, even acknowledging that, "being carried by a player in an ordinary position" seems to have much less "luck stigma" associated with it among most fans than "being carried by a player in a special position"; I'm talking about a trend across all teams, across all fanbases, across all sports.
