A win we absolutely had to have, but like they said in the broadcast…. The Jets hung on.

if the Jets ever decide to play the entire game like they played the first period we would have won this game going away.

the biggest problem is that at this time of the year when all wins are important, the Jets staff and players will look at this as a good win when in fact they were horrible for the last 40. And if not for the Helly stick miracle , Coyotes would have scored 2.

a win is a win is a win.

True, but great teams make their own miracles.

And a Jets win at this point is vraiment a miracle.

Somehow Minnesota has slipped into #1 in the division - they would probably be a favourable 1st round opponent if we are in the wild card slot

Incentive to coast... float... wave magic wands... big circles... and curl away from contact...

The Jets are the best in the league in the 2nd half...

We've got this...

I get what you're saying, especially that the Helly stick save was a huge high-roll. But that was just one event, and even though it "looked" lucky, every event had luck. Flying under the radar might be desperation plays that the Coyotes did that broke things up on our powerplay, icings that were just a hair over the line, a bobble puck that landed perfectly, etc.

At the end of the day, MoneyPuck says we went in 70-30 favorites but mathematically our performance was only good for a 60% chance to win. So we did underperform / low-roll, but when you're a 70-30 favorite, you can low-roll a bit and still win. Which I think it's fair to say we did here.

Going into tonight, Hellebuyck was currently 1.3% above the league average SV%; over his 1,683 shots, that's 21.9 more goals than average and (on average) almost 8 points in the standings, putting us in WC5, 5 points behind Nash whose games in hand give us like no chance.

Having said that, a goaltender is just as much part of a team as anyone else. Should Edmonton feel shame because they have strengths in forward and shit in net?
