Poor Jesse, gets burdened with Evans and Pezzetta and then gets benched. That's strategic coaching.

When Dvorak is ready I wonder what happens with Ylonen?
Credit to Armia for having a good attitude and taking his demotion well.

But they can't put Ylonen on waivers instead of sending Armia back down. Armia hasn't been that good and isn't part of the future. I like the speed and secondary offensive touch Ylonen brings to the bottom six.

Even though he's still getting comfortable at the NHL level, and hasn't gotten much of an opportunity, I hope he does get a decent opportunity at some point. If RHP were to go down to the 4th line when Dvo is back, which I'm against, at least RHP-Evans-Ylonen would be a great opportunity for Ylonen.

They obviously don't see him as a future piece.
Too bad but they know best...I think
I don't even know what they are trying to achieve. Do they want to get another draft in the top 5 and have another loser of a season? They could have managed that last season if they did things properly.
Do they want to win more and be competitive? if so,is this the best roster from what they had in camp and are these the best line combinations?
Can trades not be made?
I scratch the top of my head so much I got a ravine up there.lol

MSL coaches to win every game and doesn't think like a GM. I guarantee he would have never started Primeau against NJD unless he was directed to. Same goes with Ylonen, we all know Armia isn't the future but MSL just wants to win. Tough spot for the GM.
If Primeau plays tonight it's because he was told to start him.

MSL seems to me to have confidence in vets until something clicks in his mind about a young player. Up front, He seems to have confidence in RHP. And now, he seems to see something in Slaf, as he's keeping him in the top 6 despite up and down performances. Or, is HuGo directing him to keep Slaf in the top 6? I think that's unlikely.

So I'm hoping it's only a matter of time before Ylonen wins MSL's trust that even if Ylonen isn't a perfect bottom sixer now, there's something there that makes it worth keeping him in the bottom six to try to bring it out, or foster it to gradually come out.

He's also done/is doing that with Guhle, Xhekaj, Harris, Kovacevic, and, Barron. I was hoping he'd do it with Poehling. But he never did, and then they threw in the towel on Poehling, or got an offer they couldn't refuse for him. So we'll see if Ylonen goes the way of Poehling or RHP and Slaf, i.e. whether he ever gets a real, prolonged opportunity.

Might as well trade him, they clearly have no intention of giving him the opportunity to grow. We need to give the ice time to the likes of Pearson/Gallagher/Anderson.
The downside of the Pearson acquisition is taking away ice time from Ylonen. Hopefully Ylonen gets his shot and Pearson gets us a pick at the TDL.

Ylonen is just the “easiest” player to scratch.

It's unfortunate because if anything, his play has actually warranted a promotion.

But you know...veterans and experience blah blah blah.

MSL seems to be averse at breaking up the Monahan line because he's carrying Gallagher and it makes the situation more manageable in the grand scheme of things.

They really like what RHP showed last year, so they're really hoping he becomes that player again.

MSL seems to be anti-blender this season as he's trying to teach chemistry. He really believes he can teach positioning instead of constantly mixing it up, It's a new approach. I say let him cook.

Ylonen is caught up in all of that which sucks, because I think he should be getting the same opportunity as RHP. But let's hope that he forces the coach's hand starting tonight. He should be competing against RHP, not Pezz and Armia, for ice time.

I think Ylonen is a prospect you don't have to really worry about, play him, don't play him here and there, it doesn't likely matter that much either way. Yes he could turn into something solid for sure as he has NHL speed/skating/shot. The Habs should not really be benching him but fans shouldn't really care if he gets a game off here or there.

I got to think they are looking at a trade since they know they don't want to keep 3 goalies for much longer. So for now that could be coming into play though I can't see a team being interested in Armia, despite rumors saying a team was interested.

So for now they can just carry him all year and likely next, see what he can do but if he sits here and there no big deal. I would play him every game and put him in the top 6 but I don't know what kind of trades they could be looking at or not.

Had a nice net drive last night.. I always like this player even if it's unlikely he's anything more than a bottom 6 guy right now, but not playing on the PP while Anderson sucks shit out there is frustrating. We know he has a good shot.

He has such a wicked one-timer and we never got to see it with the big team at all. I'd really like to see him get a bit of powerplay usage, all he needs is one nice setup and he can really crank it.

Too bad the young dinosaur is set in his ways. Ylonen does deserve a look but somehow they think Anderson with his amazing vision and passing skills belongs on the PP. The more things change the more they stay the same

Everytime I observe him, he's playing with impressive intelligence : he displays excellent positioning defensively, gets open for the counter-attack, he reads the play at a high-level. On top of his speed and his shot.

There's no reason he should be rotting on the 4th line.

Perplexed by his lack of legitimate opportunities.
