Rumor: Jesse Puljujarvi Part 3: Maybe He Picked Out His Brain Through His Nose One Lick at a Time?

Yeah, but how often does a team actually do that as you never know when that team you are burning may be the team that could help you out with the key asset you are missing.

I'm not saying it is impossible, I just don't see it as a realistic scenario. Firstly from JPs camp as it doesn't likely get them out of town which they desire. Secondly the other team is burning a bridge for little benefit. Thirdly Edmonton is reasonably positioned to respond, unless someone goes crazy and offers 4M. But even then why would they do that when they could pay him just $1M but offer a slightly better deal to Edmonton. $3M in cap space is quite a valuable asset.
Only a Russian or Chinese owner would like to gamble like that. If he becomes a good goal scorer it'd have made sense to offer him $3+M for one year. However, it's a stupid move and not a good sign to pay "big money" before he has shown that he has earned it. In addition to that most teams don't have cap space and those who have like Ottawa, don't have money.

When he allegedly demanded to be in the NHL rather than the AHL money was rumored to be one of the reasons for that.

Not sure I believe that money doesn't matter now.

I also don't really care at this point. I'd happily see him sign with the Oilers and hope he can finally show some growth but if he spends the year in Finland while Holland waits for a reasonable deal I'm entirely fine with that too.

Gareth Bale wanted to leave Real Madrid this summer.

Sorry, I have to point out that this is incorrect. Bale wants to stay in Madrid; the manager and team want him (and his half million euro per week salary) gone.

The whole draft system is problematic. It's not right that an organization that lacks the ability to build a winning team, is allowed to draft early every single year. It should be restricted to maximum 2 top 5 picks in 5 years. It's not easy to find anything else in life where you get rewarded for it when you do a terrible job.

Funny you criticize the league and it's drafting system for "rewarding" poor performance when this is exactly what JP is whining about.

Wanting top 6 despite shitty NHLr.

Good job.

You should probably do some research.

I don't care what he is whining about but the fact is that those organizations get players for free. If they had to pay $100 million for a player like it happens in football, they'd care to develop those players and hire a GM who can build a winning team. In icehockey an organization like Edmonton Oilers can suck 20 or 30 years and they get rewards for that when they are allowed to pick players before those organizations that know what they are doing. If an organization is not successful, it should be punished, not rewarded.

Maybe you should stick to soccer. If the NHL did this the league would be in major trouble

I'm afraid his value is only going down with a season in Europe. As Jesse IMO doesn't have the tools to put around a point per game in the Finnish Liiga, the season will be seen as dissapointing by many.
He needs to go to the KHL. Him going to the Finish league isn't going to prove anything.

The fact is Oilers want value for him. In order for that value to go up Jesse needs to do something in the next best league.

He is playing a dangerous game of chicken with the leagues most experienced and respected GM.

Have fun with that Jesse.

Actually this world is littered with rewarding poor jobs. Daryl katz was given a new hockey rink by the city and the gobs of money to go with it and his [product was liner for a bird cage.

Don't those Euro leagues fire up soon as well? One would think whoever he is talking to would want to know his plans already too.

Once again, do some research. You're sounding REALLY out of touch and uneducated on the subject.

Especially since Jokerit is in the KHL and he could stay in Finland.

If you get any likes for this post, you’ll have been rewarded for doing a terrible job.

Here is an example about that what I wrote yesterday. They cover up things in Edmonton. Those "journalists" deliberately translate wrongly and consequently what they are publishing has nothing to do what the player actually said. This kind of behavior is like that what Russian trolls are doing.

A pretty odd opinion expressed in the context of what you are doing here.

Why are you posting here again?

That's TSN. No where do I see it linked to an Edmonton Journalist

Yep, him and his agent aren't winning this one, him going to SM-liiga would probably be the end of his NHL career. Playing soft hockey on IIHF rinks isn't going to help him in the NHL, he needs to be developing in North America to our style of hockey, meaning he needs to learn to protect the puck better, use his size and strength more and that won't happen outside the NHL, unless he were to suck it up and play in the AHL, but his ego is too big for that. My guess is he'll be at training camp because he knows he has no other options lol

Anyone else reminded of Omark? He had his group of fans that defended him to the grave (nothing his fault), and many of these posts didn't exactly make sense. You never saw the posters before and once Omark left you never saw them again.

Anyone getting that vibe with this thread and a certain poster

Omark we had a lot of fans coming in here thought. JP doesn't seem to have that many supporters.

Omark also had proven a lot more. 27 points in 51 NHL games. PPG in AHL in three different years, although 19-30 games. Did well in all sorts of other leagues in Europe. Omark fans were just frustrated that they saw a player excel in every other league he played in, but wasn't getting a shot in the big league.

I dont know exactly what you are saying here. We’ve heard from Lehto, in English, that Jesse wants to be traded. We’ve heard multiple quotes from multiple sources that Jesse wants a fresh start elsewhere. The only “cover-up” I’ve seen is how the Oilers kept quiet how Jesse failed to take his English lessons, did not listen to his coaches and has frustrated all his team mates. Enlighten us then. What are the “real truths” as opposed to the incorrect translations we are supposedly getting??

Not anymore he doesn't, but six months ago you could hardly find a person saying a bad word about him. Everyone was very sympathetic towards his situation until he and Lehto became unwilling to give the Holland/Tippett duo a chance.

I was sympathetic even when the trade rumors were swirling around the draft.

I just assumed he either wanted a chance to actually play or he wanted a trade, which I could completely agree with. Lehto and then Jesse made it quite clear that this wasn't the case though
