Rumor: Jesse Puljujarvi Part 3: Maybe He Picked Out His Brain Through His Nose One Lick at a Time?

I just don’t see how any team out there would be willing to offer anything of value for JP right now. Coming off hip surgery and not having waiver eligibility is a big deal IMO. He hasn’t proven that he is even worth a NHL roster spot so any team trading for him would basically have to guarantee one for him or risk losing him on waivers for nothing.

You forgot to mention his poor grasp of the English language and cancerous body language as the leading factors to why no teams will take him.

His body language was much improved in the pictures from this summer. I have faith he can carry that form forward to any team that will potentially acquire him.

Hahaha well played!

What I’m truly hoping for is he recants his trade request, signs here cheap and proves all you haters wrong next season. I’m also hoping Koskinen wins the Vezina, Nurse the Norris, Bouchard the Calder and all the other trophies belong to Connor.

It's definitely disappointing how this turned out. I had hoped that with the hips fixed and a year older, this was going to be the year we saw the player we had hoped for.

Another pitiful attempt to be funny. I know you only like to post in offseason, but if you’d watched the games you would have seen JP smiling away like simple jack when he’d just blown his assignment or flubbed a golden opportunity. It doesn’t take an expert in body language to see that the kid doesn’t have the first clue on how to be a pro. Probably pisses off his team mates too with his goofy awww shucks attitude to a professional game.

Ok be honest with me. How many times did you see Jesse blow his assignment and then act goofy about it on the bench? Considering he’s easily one of the most responsible wingers defensively on the team I’m going to have to call you out on that one. I think it’s incredibly petty that we have stopped to a level of making things up and then making up how it effects teammates in an attempt to slag a player now. Jesse actually showed a lot of frustration last year when he screwed up. Not every player needs to be smashing sticks over the boards or post and yelling at teammates to show they care.

No issues with calling him out for his lack of puck handling skills or his not being consistent with his effort to get to the front of the net, or even him not learning English well or quick enough, but to make up garbage is ...garbage.

That's also gonna be taxed at about 50% in Finland. Not smart Jesse.
Up to 50% of the salary and not more than 100000 euros can be put aside in savings bonds for hockey players. No tax is paid before the career is over for that amount.
Puljujärvi said today that if he doesn't get a NHL contract, he will play for Kärpät and money is not an issue. Kärpät and his agent haven't discussed that option yet. I think that if he ends up there he is not going to earn so much. The salary might be less than 200K. Nobody knows how good he will be and the budget for players is something like 3 millions. There cannot be much left. Of course they might attract new sponsors which would allow them to pay more but if he says that he wants to play there no matter what he earns, then this year might be an investment for him.
Jesse Puljujärvi aikoo pelata Kärpissä, jos NHL-sopimusta ei synny – "Eihän tässä ole kyse rahasta"

Oh well, good riddance, we're not getting anything good in trade for him and him and his agent want to throw his career away, I say let him rot.

On the bench? None that I can recall. I don’t get to see games at the rink due to where I live. So I only see the bench when the camera shows it. However I saw inappropriate reactions to mistakes/blown chances on the ice immediately after they happened. I don’t have a count for you, but long before this JP thing blew up into the mess we have today, I made posts in GDTs questioning why JP was grinning like it didn’t matter in those sorts of situations. You are welcome to search for them if you like.

I agree with you that not everybody is a stick smasher. And smashing sticks is stupid anyway. But the poster I quoted above has made it his little motto for the offseason to talk about ‘body language’ as if it’s something that doesn’t matter. It matters. We have a captain who sacrifices his body in the meaningless final game of another toasted season ... and you think he doesn’t mind seeing a team mate smiling away after going offside, flubbing his shot, going to the wrong side of the ice etc?

Now you be honest with me. Why is it that when someone says something you disagree with regarding this player you resort to saying they are ‘making up garbage’?

lol

Every time with you. I keep forgetting.

Carry on.

Yes...you know a lot about consistency.....never a lost opportunity to take shots at a poster (when you get uncomfortable) and make it personal.
Well done...I am sure a few others of that mindset will approve.

Carry on indeed.

Quite honestly if you have so much trouble with me or my posts I would be happy to be added to your ignore list.

Because it really does appear that you’re making obscure stuff up to be negative about a player when there’s plenty of actual ammo available.

Jesse obviously isn’t a super intense person. He’s not going to react to missing an open net the same way Hall would and smash a stick. He’s also not going to pull a Lucic and be totally emotionless unless he’s yelling at a teammate. Those really are things that don’t matter about Jesse and you’re trying to make it focal point. I find it humorous and petty to be honest that a fan would be so hypersensitive to a players reactions on the ice. So much so that you’re criticizing him for something you never actually saw happen lol.

I think you might be misinterpreting Jesse's reactions. You ever see a golfer hit a bad shot, smile and shake their head? That's the equivalent of what Jesse would do when things didn't go right. I never saw that as an inappropriate reaction, just a personal expression of disappointment.

As Nabob pointed out there were far more instances where he showed frustration last year. Most mistakes or turnovers that he made were in the offensive zone though where he wasn't getting a tone of help creating chances from his linemates aside from the limited time he spent in the top 6. He also wasn't a liability defensively.

It seems the objectivity in some posters' naratives has disappeared. Just because Jesse has asked for a trade doesn't mean there are no longer good parts of Jesse's game.

Nino Niedereiter resurrected his game in Minnesota because they gave him a better chance to succeed by putting him in a position to play to his strengths. That's something the Oilers have been reluctant to do for some reason. Don't be surprised if Jesse turns things around on another team because he gets put in an offensive role right away.

He looked like a different player in preseason last year then promptly got put in the bottom six for a few weeks before giving him a brief chance on an scoring line. That's not a good strategy for building off momentum and confidence generated in pre-season.

While I dont disagree with some of your post the comparison with Niederreiter doesnt work at all. Niederreiter was actually a legit NHL player before being traded...Jesse has never been close to that.

Anybody that watches the game has seen these instances. Jesse has a shitshow shift and is grinning on the bench or headed to the bench because his goofy smile seems glued on like the Joker.

I would agree that its the combo of Jesse not busting his back on the ice, and his beer league intensity that doesn't ingratiate him to his team mates. We have several players here coming off career years. Then we have Jesse still unable to find out something he's good at in the NHL. He hasn't even formed a niche.

Multiple seasons in, usually a player has found something they can contribute.

Trouble with Jesse is he spends most of his time being "dispirited" (his word) so that the resilience in his play is non existent and the moment he gets shutdown he disappears for another game. But then he'll blame it all on how he's being utilized and then want to take his hockey puck home..

Niederreiter plays an NHL style game and adapted for the physical brand of hockey. Then again, he always had that edge. Even if he's not gonna be a top 6 scorer, he can still be an effective bottom 6r.

JP is still wildcard with everything aside from having NHL size

When will that travesty of a jersey go away?

I think Jesse will end up being just fine. He's not Yakupov; he definitely has good defensive IQ

That is the problem. Jesse appears unwilling to accept any sort of bottom 6 role, which is where Holland says he will start with the Oilers and he can earn his way into the top 6.

Nah, like Harpoon mentions these comments occurred in real time, the reactions to what Jesse was doing in realtime, on GDT's lots of them.

Its not revisionist comment. If anything the meme posted that some are blind to Jesse's flaws and back him unconditionally still exists.

Nino had 36pts in his first full NHL season. Is that really a comparison? Nino just had the one season where he's figuring it out. he got there after 64NHL GP. Jesse is at 139GP and its still not evident he's putting it together.
