Come on man..you know damn well that not livable is just another way of saying a climate that they would rather not live in. Its not that difficult to understand.

I even stated Alberta in the post you responded to but you still made this an Edmonton / Calgary thing.

Why are you so thinned skinned about this? To the point where you seem to take it personally. As if someone not liking Edmonton or Alberta for that matter is a personal attack on your choice to live there.

Why do you care? Its completely and totally subjective. Its just a matter of personal preference.
Its not that hard to understand.

Just let it go...it simply doesnt matter if someone doesnt like the climate in Edmonton or Calgary or Alberta. They have every right not to like it especially if they came form a warm climate.
Unless of course you are looking for a battle which you seem to be.

Maybe we can agree that its time to revisit the topic of this thread.

If someone says a city is unlivable then they are smearing the city. I have never heard of anyone describing a place to live as unlivable and it not be extremely negative. Hell, when I say that I am basically saying the place is a shit hole.

A small town can be unlivable even when it's nice. Most summer towns are like that. It's nice to visit by boat a town where you can walk to every place but it would be very tough mentally to live there when the population is less than 10000 and you don't see any people anywhere in winter. In a bigger city there must be a serious issue like traffic, safety or something like that if it's unlivable.

I also think that Jokerit buys his KHL rights if he decides to play in that league. He could be Eeli version 2.

About Swedish pizzas. My colleague from Salttis told once that you have to go to the kitchen to find out whether the cook is Italian or not. If yes then it's a decent pizzeria, if not, then it's not. I've lived twice in Stockholm and had no problems with pizzas there.
Most pizzerias have open kitchens, I would be very surprised if I've met more than two italian or italian-swedish pizza chefs in my 34 years in this countries.

In the most central mall in stockholm there is a place called Deg (dough, same double meaning as in english) which is pretty alright. They do not have an italian chef...

Edmonton has been called desolate as well.
Of course its an exaggeration but the implication is clear...its in the middle of no where.

In terms of unlivable perhaps a different word should be used I guess. I'll grant you that.

I personally know people that would never choose to live in this climate. To them its brutal.
Fine by me..I dont care. Thats their perspective and to be quite honest I understand it.
In terms of climate and location this is a very difficult and undesirable place for a lot of people.

In any event often people exaggerate to make their point. Happens all the time on here.

Yet you decided to jump in and defend him.

That's your decision. Strange hill to die on.

Not for the poster in question who has loved to get digs at Edmonton for as long as he's been here. From Calgary, which has always struck me as poor form.

Somebody from Calgary might acknowledge it doesn't make a whole lot of sense here to bash Edmonton.

Edmonton is unliveable and now located nowhere by your proclamation, stated by a Calgarian on an Edmonton board.

just stop Mordecai!.

To be fair you also decided to lose your s*** over a rather innocuous topic. Thats what I was responding to actually.

Anyway...my intent wasnt to cause an argument...just to point out that posters seem to take on things and make them personal instead of choosing to to let it roll off their back.

Came to the JP thread for talk about Swedish pizzerias.

Was not disappointed.
Its kind of hilarious, or sad, that Pulju is such an easily ignored topic that its virtually impossible to actually discuss his play, which largely hasn't occurred. I mean his, play, or comments about it..

As I've said before after watching Jesse play several seasons here I know less about his skillset than any supposed top rank player I've ever seen. Its like a complete mystery what this players tool box is.

Of course it was. Your intent was to preach and get in a few digs. Just like your "lose your shit" comment was intended to give you the moral high ground as if that perception somehow gives you Carte Blanche to enter the conversation and say what you wish. You didn't even follow the English language while doing so.

Lose my shit? lol Call him out on bullshit and that's what it means? Anything to not look wrong, eh?

Keep climbing. You'll make it to the top of that hill soon.

It was accurate...You lost it over an innocuous comment. You then tried to take the position of taking every word literally and pulled out the dictionary...lol
Now this has become about me and you seem determined to paint me in a bad light.

Fill your boots.

My point was and has been all along is that city boosters cant seem to deal with any comments about the city/Province that arent framed in a favorable manner.
They take it personally...I stand by that.

You even tried to use a little misdirection and make this a Calgary/Edmonton thing.

In any event...the season cant start soon enough.

Yeah, based on this post, you definitely haven't lost your s*** and don't sound like a total nutter.

Drivesaitl posted pictures from summer in Edmonton as examples for why Edmonton was a great place, I stated that he was cherry picking images from the time of the year where Edmonton is livable, especially from the point of a young NHL player.

You somehow then decided that I'd changed my tune when literally nothing had changed in my stance because you had "called me on my bull****", when all you really had done was gone on an idiotic rant that wouldn't sound out of place in a junior high playground.

Then, you posted the definition of the word 'unlivable' (which you might note had not actually been used in my post), and turned it into a weird diatribe on Guymez's use of the English language, which is a bit funny given how many basic sentence structure and punctuation errors are in your post.

Then, even after a mod posted that it was time to give it up, you still continue to berate that poster.

While I'm not going to whip out the Oxford dictionary to look up the exact meaning of the idiom, I'm going to guess that's a pretty good example of losing your ****.

Anyways, I'm going to follow BBO's instructions and move on. I'd suggest that you do the same.

Spent some time on Vancouver Island last week and while it's pretty much a given that any Islander will ask me why I choose to live in Alberta, the best one was the person asking what was keeping me in Edmonton instead of "the beautiful, amazing, lush island that we live in", as if I was being held hostage by the mayor of Edmonton by gunpoint, for there was no possible reason for any human being to choose Edmonton over Vancouver Island.

People have preferences, and some communicate those preferences in fairly funny ways.

The Oilers have had some UFA/RFA wins the last 7-8 years, it's time to get over that whole thing.

Matthews was harder on the Leafs and less willing to commit long term to Toronto than McDavid was for Edmonton.

Florida and LA should get every big UFA ... they don't. Not even close.

If there's a team that has it tough for UFAs it's the Raptors in the NBA. The Oilers have a good shot at getting some players ... not every guy, but definitely they probably could have gotten Nyquist or someone if they were really dying to get them.

Most NHL players grow up in cold weather markets, so winter doesn't bother them and during the season they're at home only half the time anyway. Off-season it's off to the summer cabin/vacation home anyway.

What some random Californian who's never skated in their life thinks about weather in Canada is irrelevant.

Every time with you. I keep forgetting.

Carry on.

The oil definitely have landed their fare share of UFAs without having to pay any more than what the UFA market dictated.

Personally I spent the first 32 years of my life within 150km of Edmonton. If I had the ability to basically win the lottery and get to live anywhere in NA I would choose somewhere a lot nicer weather wise and city wise.

I just don’t see how any team out there would be willing to offer anything of value for JP right now. Coming off hip surgery and not having waiver eligibility is a big deal IMO. He hasn’t proven that he is even worth a NHL roster spot so any team trading for him would basically have to guarantee one for him or risk losing him on waivers for nothing.
