His dry period has dropped his stats, but he's still top-5 within the team in pretty much every main category. His +- is the 2nd best of the team (highest of forwards but shared with McDavid) and his corsi is the best of the team. Hyman has one less point than Hyman but is +5 compared to Hyman's -7.

The Oilers doesn't need him in his typical PP place so it's a tough decision. Do the Oilers still see Pulju as a valuable future piece or should they trade him to a team that apreciates what he brings and could potentially bring to their PP?

The value of Puljujarvi is certainly higher than what the Oilers get from him right now, but this could change if things start to click again in the Oilers.

I didn't notice that Tippett was fired when I wrote the previous post. Anyway, it's interesting to see if this will boost Pulju's confidence and what his role will be now.

What PP role did Puljujarvi have in the AHL? He scored 5 PP goals in 39 games in his AHL season (2016-2017) and I assume at the time he was used as his typical QB/shooting role.

It's almost certainly lost money, but a while ago I put some money for the Oilers to win the SC :) I lost all my hope with Tippett, now there's a bit back. It would require a whole new attitude from the team under the new coach, PP to click again, Kane being really good, Puljujarvi playing his best hockey again and probably a couple of good trades.

Sign him 7 million… haha

He’s a third liner. He can’t drive the play. He was a passenger last night on the third line compared to the other two. I think he has improved a little over the last few years but people commenting he’d get 7m should watch a few more games and less stat watching

Severely lacks confidence. He is almost scared to have the puck on his stick

Puljujarvi is struggling offensively but still playing ok defensively. He is in a funk and hopefully will get out soon.

I think everyone here takes him over Kassian 9 times out of ten.

The coaching change might be what was needed. We know Tippett hated Koskinen and I expect much of the room wasn't pleased by Tippett remarks. Koskinen and Puljujärvi are supposedly friends so I can't imagine Puljujarvi was particularly upset to see Tippett fired. We will see. I expect more from Puljujarvi.

JP needs to wake up. 0 goals in 14 games. He's hardly noticed on the ice and he's not being smart either. Hopefully this change is a wake up call

I mean if played how he did the first month all year long he's also looking at like a 7.5 million dollar contract, lol. Probably for the best that he cooled off for now.

At least we don't have to break the bank signing him now. Can probably sign both Yamamoto and JP for a combined 4 million next season.

Would be nice, but while his value is lower right now I am 100% sure some other team would offer considerably more than 2.5 million if that's about what you count as his salary. There's teams that see his floor as a player that brings important elements even if he's not scoring and they would also pay for the scoring potential.

Just when he started producing again he got hurt. Woodcrof said he will be on IR roughly four weeks.

I would trade him if we get a real good return. If not keep him on the team.

He's obviously has mental weakness.

He's a young PWF. We have already seen him improve from last season. Why would we trade him?

Even if he's not scoring, he still plays good D.

Only reason I would trade him, is if it's a good return, and I thought if would be a cap issue......we need a goalie and other pressing needs.

OK, so what do you think he will cost, to resign ? Do you think he fits in, with our needs, given the cap challenges ?

We need a goalie.
He shouldn't be anything over 4 million IMO. That's just me though. He can play good defensively, fine, but he is zero threat offensively. What is that worth?

Imagine Kassian and somebody else gone. There is Kane $$

This organizations biggest weakness, besides pro scouting, is being attached to too many players. I hope he stays and improves. It just boggles my mind how he looks so clumsy at this stage. Handling pucks, making passes, etc. He always looks like anything he does is by the skin of his teeth.

I agree with ya. The only thing is, he might command more, due to his potential, a team may gamble and throw down.....we can't afford that in Edmonton. We also have Hollaway and a few other kids ready, for cheap.

If he signed a 4 mill deal with another team that would be a second rounder as compensation

over 4.1 million would be a first and third rounder as compensation

I would have to match the second rounder as compensation. I may not match if the offer sheet was over 4.1 (first and third rounder).

He hasn't been producing as consistently as I hoped, but he is still the 5th best scorer of the team. Two points behind Hyman and Nuge within reach if he'd had as much PP time.

I really wanted to see Pulju flourish specifically in the Oilers, but realistically thinking I'm torn wether or not he should be traded. I just feel some other team would have a bigger need for him as the Oilers have a heavy top and they don't really need Pulju on the powerplay.

If the value for the Oilers is 4 million that you suddested I'm pretty sure there are teams that see his value pretty much higher. On the other hand Pulju shines at tilting the game towards the offensive side and is good at defending, which the Oilers know but which may be harder to turn to big market value.

Guess Kane isn't the one with mental weakness, eh? Talking about shining new toy syndrome.
