I’m eagerly waiting by the phone for them to say they need a 39 year old winger who prefers to shoot his off wing and has absolutely no MCL left in his right knee.
that's Dubas for ya
he probably already called Joe Thorton to make a come back

Does that 48 include Pieniemi and Pickering? Because they are signed but don’t count.

You're right, that is true however, that 2-way deal still counts against the 50 total professional contracts a team is allowed to have. Penguins have 48 currently so he'd be #49. That's probably fine but still, we shouldn't be signing guys and adding them to the total unless we are sure they are going to be productive, impact, helpful players.

Now, yeah, if he goes to the AHL that makes things easier on the cap and if he jets to Europe, obviously, that solves it. My thought, though, is that if Europe was a good place for him, he would be there already.
His other option is to rebuild himself in the AHL, and then he’s a UFA EOS. As he has been a long time NHLer, he may not be interested in the bus rides, and lifestyle.

Usually European players would rather just go back home once they give up on the NHL. I don’t know if Pully is there yet.

I do agree that there are a lot of “ifs” but ultimately I’m a fan of trying stuff. Of course they don’t need to rush into it.

I haven’t read any reporters talking about his usage/performance in practice. Would be good to get some insight.

Is the poor soul back in Pittsburgh working out on his own? When the team comes back from the road trip his 10 day tryout will have almost ended. And from what I've read he's had ONE practice with the team?

I still think this is idiotic.

I'd rather see Dubas trade for Gurianov from the Preds affiliate and give him a chance. Trade Harkins for him straight up.

JP? To say he's damaged goods is being nice at this point.

At this point I'd even just do Drew O'Connor for Denis Gurianov.

Just a player that has skill and an absolute laser of a shot and can skate. Playing on a team with Geno, of whom I am sure he respects loads, would be a major boost. He's been doing well in Milwaukee as well.

When healthy - for Sully to f*** up

Guentzel, Crosby, Rust
Smith, Malkin, Puustinen
Gurianov, Eller, Rakell
Pitlick, Zohorna, Hinostroza/Carter

I think it would be pretty funny getting both Gurianov and Puljujarvi when we all were talking about trading Kapenen for one of them for a "change of scenery". All similar players in that they had high draft pedigree but never panned out where they played.

Turns out Kapanen is very likely the best of the bunch.

Idk Carter has been kinda crushing it these last two games. Zoho was invisible.
makes you think...Zohorna was super good last game, I mean, he was the one every time L1 would survive onslaught he and his line would get on the forecheck and tilt the ice back...he was dangerous driving the puck to the net and drew two panalties...I am not a big fan of his, but props where props are needed

He's a PPG in the AHL. Not sure he's the kind of guy you trade away for Harkins. As someone said, DOC maybe but that's lateral at best.

Dubas had the ability to sign Gurianov too but didn't so my guess is, he wouldn't be interested now.

That said, I would think Puljujarvi could be just as good as Harkins, Gruden, Johnstone, etc so...he's a maybe at the very least. I will still say though, there's a reason he was a UFA. Concerning too when you look at the list of current UFAs.

he had a rough couple weeks after getting blow up on some big hits multiple games in a row. after sitting a game i think he's back to doing what he was at the start of the year, he played very well against montreal. they should continue with hino on L1 over doc or at least keep alternating them, the doc-eller-z line got thrown away way too quickly due to injury

I don’t know much about him other than he was apparently overdrafted… I see he’s a bigger guy but does he play physical at all if he isn’t going to bring much scoring? After getting double hip surgery I have to assume that takes a little speed off a guy.

This is the second time he had this surgery. After the first time he did very well for a season plus a few months. His stats were good and he was becoming a fan favourite. I have no idea if and how much the hip issue affected his lack of production in the second half of his time in the Oilers and I don't like excuses, but I am curious to see how it'll go after this surgery. It'd be great if it did after the first one, but I don't know if this will be seen in the NHL or in Europe.
