4 points in 13 games... Of course he wants to sign with the Habs, no one will offer him a contract, with his stats.

I don't think he would have trouble getting an NHL contract. He's very aggressive physically, has NHL strength, speed, skating, mobility, frame. I have questioned the offensive upside and IQ, he's made a lot of improvement in his defensive game but injuries have been a big problem for him.

Irrelevant what anyone on HF boards thinks. HuGo & MSL have a built in bias favoring US prep school & college programs (especially those programs in the Northeast).

They know Struble, Tuch etc intimately well from their prep schools days here in New England, and Hughes & MSLs kids have played w & against them.

Laval needs help, any help.

He always seemed like the type that would need at least 1 year in Laval, although many young D are NHL ready at 22, which he will be next year at the start of canp.

I've always been one of his biggest supporters on this board, and despite his zig-zagging progress (due to injuries) I still believe he can become a force in the NHL.

His offensive ceiling is a mystery, but I'm glad to hear him saying his first pass reached a new level.

Regardless whether Struble becomes a Norris contender or a solid #5D, having both he and Xhekaj on the team will prove fantastic and guarantee a great physical challenge for our opponents. That's not to mention Logan Mailloux. What's not to like? THIS is the kind of environment a player like Lane Hutson can thrive in. He'll have absolute physical support.

Really hoping to see Struble play with our Habs (5-10 games+) at the end of this season (like Harris last season). And, maybe half (more or less) of next season in the AHL...like with Justin Barron. Our young d-core will be faster/tougher with Struble. Maybe Struble will be ready for the entire 2023-2024 season mostly with our Habs? I hope so.

Him never developing a true offensive game is a bit disappointing after the flashes he was showing early on. That said, the raw potential is still more than good enough to give him a chance. He did miss close to 50% of his time in the NCAA up to now due to injuries so who knows how much development he still has left in him.

I don't see him in the NHL this year, don't think he's ready for it aside from physically. I would expect him to spend a couple years in the AHL.

Given your take on the Maestro I'll pass on the rest of them.

Darn it! I was doing too much wishful thinking/hoping! (hoping Struble could be ready to get a few games at the end of the season). Harris stayed healthy for longer periods of time, so was more ready. Now we just have to keep hoping Struble will stay healthy (often enough) and keep developing (since he missed a lot of development-time due to injuries). Well...if it takes a couple of years in the AHL..so be it, whatever is good for our Struble. (Still...I can't wait to see him in a Hab jersey!!, but will need to be patient).
Cheers!

At this point we should just package him along in a deal at the TDL to try to improve the return.
Just a gut feeling (or more?!), but...if it were up to me I'd wait to see him play a season (or two) for our farm team (Laval) before making any decisions. Many reasons to be patient with Struble (ex: "montreal" wrote "He's very aggressive physically, has NHL strength, speed, skating, mobility, frame"). I'd keep Struble, imo. We may just have to be patient...and it may really pay off. When playoffs become grittier, tougher...Struble may really help our d-core...just has to find a way to stay healthy for long periods of time.

Agreed, although when discussing trades it is always about what the other team is willing to part with. Struble is so physically gifted that it does seem silly not to sign him or to package him in a deal as a throw in while his value is at it's lowest. Every rational excercise seems to end with him being signed and going to Laval.

If Romanov can be traded, so can Struble. I think some fans think we will just throw him in a trade at low value and that's not the case. If he is part of deal, it's likely due to getting a prospect we want in an area of team need.

Hughes is not dumb. Struble is not raking up points but the rest of his game is solid and Hughes likely puts his trade value at B+ if he were being asked to be in a larger trade package. No way Hughes just offers him in a package easily. It would come at careful consideration and would depend on who's coming the other way.

If you ask many Hab fans about Struble's value..some will say he's a B or C prospect (nostly due to his injuries and not playing a lot). And, some like myself will still say he is an A or A- or B+ prospect...it's all about staying healthy and progressing for Struble. He has what it takes to be a solid NHL dman (imo)..just needs some more patience from management (and some Hab fans).

I don't want Struble to be in a package a la Poehling (Petry+Poehling for Matheson). Give some time to Struble and it may pay off.

We might REALLY regret it...packaging Struble to complete an ok or average trade.

Jordan Harris would like to see Struble play some Hab games at the end of the season (so do I!). Will it happen? I hope so!

Imo, Struble is more than a B prospect..we just have to be patient.
(It may just pay off).

Martineau spoke with Jordan Harris, and Harris said he would love for Struble to be signed and play some NHL games at the end of the season. He says you never know what can happen, but he's a good player.

Martineau then asked if he already hits like an NHL'er, and Harris said yes.

+10000 (and cheers for the article/quote).
With Xhekaj AND Struble..it will be harder for the opponents to take runs at Suzuki, Caufield, and our goalies.
