Maybe an AHL contract like Simmoneau and RHP.

Stats looking, an offensive d who can't produce offense and can't stay healthy isn't worth one, but lessee players have gotten contracts before.

It's more his mobility and physicality that will lead to him getting an ELC.

Kent Hughes knows him well too, I think they'll give him a shot. As you said, lesser players have gotten an ELC before.

Agree. It feels like he's been on our prospect list for ever, but he's still only 21!

He was one of the youngest players drafted in his draft year (September birthday), and went straight from prep-school to NCAA.

Hughes is loathe to give up any assets right now. He refuses to put Pezzetta on waivers because he knows he'll get claimed. And, I agree with him. We don't have so much depth that we can afford to walk away from a 21 year old strong hitting defensive defenseman. It's not like Laval is over run with prospects.

We may begin to see prospects included in upcoming trades as the cupboards continue to fill up, but a 21 year old selected in the 2nd round (46 OA) - you don't just turn your back on.

Struble? Not sure he will get an NHL contract in my eyes.

Struble locked up a NHL contract when he reposted this meme in the summer.

I thought we had more NHL contracts than that. Currently at 46. So yeah, he should get one.

Struble is mobile and strong, able to hit hard, but put too much faith in him. He is 3rd in icetime at Northeastern and it's not stacked at all unless Im wrong?

Dont get me started on Pezzzzzz. The team who would claimed him would be disappointed, but way easier to have a guy like that as a forward. He plays 6min per game. I think he is just a good guy in the locker room and they dont really care if he plays 6min per game instead of a Pitlick. RHP, Ylonen, etc who would benefict of playing more.

Don't be fooled, he is the clear #1 D at NU. Ice time is skewed due to injury and game misconducts.

Last game, he had a penalty and played 17:45.

The game on January 7, he played 18:39 without any penalty. He is 3rd in icetime.

The game on January 1st, he played 19:03 without any penalty again. He is 4th in icetime.

I didnt watch the games, only a few shifts but the coachs dont seem to agree with him as the clear #1? I could go on and on.

We are at 46 and assuming we re-sign Beaudin and Richard and still have Price on LTIR, we will likely lose 12 contracts this summer or earlier:
Monahan
Dadonov
Drouin
Byron
Schueneman
Bowey
Belzile (time to move him to AHL contract)
Leskinen (Group 6)
Stephens (Group 6)
Schnarr (Not qualifying)
Teasdale (Not qualifying)
Condotta (Not qualifying)
Sixteen contracts looks like enough to cover 2 of the five guys who need to be signed or lost, 3 NCAA guys, four 2022 or 2023 draftees and four or five new players via trade or UFA (NHL or vet Laval depth)
Dichow OR Verbetic (make a choice)
Simoneau
Struble
Farrell
Dobes
There may be other moves, or maybe some of the above are not signed, but contract numbers are definitely going to be a factor in decision making.

He will definitely get an ELC. Strange to see people even thinking about letting such a good prospect go for nothing. Where were Chiarot or Edmundson at 21 years old? Some seem to forget that you need solid physical Ds and these normally need more time to mature. Forget about the depth on the left side. This will be sorted out as we will go along. Remember Romanov for Dach. Too much depth does not exist. Trades are there to take care of it. The key factor is to have valuable assets.

People just have Bergevin brain where he would let prospects value expire rather than trade them. It will take a bit for people to think strategically like Hughes does.

Good physical potential, that's for sure, always doubted his overall potential, his IQ is meh.

Could become a bottom pairing D, who knows.

But yeah, he'll get a contract, he's at least worth a shot cause of that.

From 2019 to 2023, his progression curve isnt going on the right direction.
Regular stay-at-home dman in the NHL, had better growing curve in junior carreer. I would say, his multiple injurys did not help him.
Honestly, I don’t expect that much.

Good prospect to keep, for sure. I think he can surprise people like Xhekaj do. He have all tools to become a good defenseman at NHL level.
Arber Xhekaj is on another level. From 2018-22. His ratio in the OHL +/- was just on another level. And he was already showing offensive flair (ppg in kitchener) + physical attributes. progression curve from Xhekaj is not the same than Struble imo.

Does Jayden Struble receive a contract offer?
His numbers over 4 years-
93 games played
44 points and a +13.

1 goal in 20 games this season.

He hasn't progressed as most thought he would.

Would be foolish not to. HuGo & their new NCAA scout will know his abilities and projections in thorough detail - being from the Boston area.
