Holland basically blamed the players. He's essentially saying they're uncoachable if you read between the lines.Rishaug asking if more accountability needed to be demonstrated to the team by coaching staff, holding guys to account. Holland on a rambler again, says 'that's a really good question'. Attaboy, way to earn that $5 million Holland.
Agreed. Especially when you consider how much the players like him, the FACT that they have NOT checked out, the FACT that analytically they are still pushing the pace of games and controlling play, and the FACT that goaltending has been League worse during this stretch.we had a good coach and we are replacing him with a rookie with no practice days between games. We better hope for a big bounce from the coaching change because this team got another coach fired (5 since Todd) and there's no reason to think Knoblauch will do any better. Jay deserved more of a leash.
Which leads to the very apropos question asked earlier, if there needs to be changes to the core. Which led to Holland saying he believes in the core. So which is it, Holland? SMH at the flip flopping.Holland basically blamed the players. He's essentially saying they're uncoachable if you read between the lines.
Knobluach speaks the truth. Hes right, the problem is he is coming into a terrible situation where players are under performing and our best player seems hurt. People want immediate results and it's going to take time for Knob to get his imprint on the team. this is 100% on the players and only the players can fix it.Just verbal diarrhea from Holland, what else is new. Knoblauch was coaching yesterday and was flown here to take over tomorrow. Great timing and prep work by the organization.. really.
Gregor with a salient point about coaching paying the price, again, for a team that is underperforming. Holland says they're in 'win now' mode. Change needed immediately. Knoblauch asked how quickly he will put his imprint on the team. Says you can only do so much with systems change, lineups, etc. Wants to get feedback from vets and young guys, coaching staff, etc.
f***ing Holland mentions Jackson and makes special mention of Coffey.. maybe in deference?? Anyways, Rishaug with the pointed question with the 'unique' situation of a senior advisor stepping to coach, and to clarify. Coffey said he was surprised.. was content being in his 'advisory' role. Talks about 'respect' for Katz, 'Mr. Katz..' and Jeff, etc. Does he have NHL coaching exp, no, does he understand the game yes, players yes. Tychowski asks if the team tuned out Woodcroft, Holland says he doesn't think so, thinks some disappointed players in there. Said they couldn't wait another 10 games to see them work out the issues, change needed immediately.
Tychowski asks Jackson about x amount of coaches in x years, maybe some change needed in the core of the lineup? Jackson said he came out 3 months ago, can't control the past but here long term and also here to win. Holland now chipping in unsolicited, citing his belief in the core. The time is now, blah blah blah.
Nobody is accountable for anything in this organization
I'm pretty convinced even the game plan last night was revised. Radically different D positional usage and stressing front of net presence more than we've seen all season. Something as simple as that made differences last night. Players collapsing in coverage made a difference.Well, the lip readers were right, Jay and Manson knew they were fired after the SJ game.
Everything I've heard is that this was Jackson's hire, even the description of how it went down sounds like "Jackson ordered me to fire woodcroft, so I made the hard decision to do it". Pretty clear Holland is a lame duck GM at this point
I wonder if McLellan brings Woody back into the fold in LA.
What I find interesting is a HC gets to pick his staff. Knoblach inherits the forever incumbent Schwartz, Gulutzan and has Coffey gifted a position.
All I can do is laugh at this point.
Gulutzan for sure.GG I can sorta understand. But the other 2 assistants...omfg
He can't really say the opposite though.Which leads to the very apropos question asked earlier, if there needs to be changes to the core. Which led to Holland saying he believes in the core. So which is it, Holland? SMH at the flip flopping.
He's not that type, I agree. But the subtext isn't great to see or read into as a fan.Stauffer asked a good question for once.
He can't really say the opposite though.
