Unclear which era you're talking about ... Tippett? Woodcroft? Knoblauch's situation?Gonna disagree the team was poised to go on a roll. The D schemes were devastating. We don't have the goaltending sufficient to compensate for D leaving net front to chase pucks elsewhere. That was killing us consistently and teams just doing what Vegas exploited. I know that it was alleged there were changes but I was seeing the same D chasing breakdowns. Last night for once was different, a priority was put on D remaining around net front. Which is always what I would recommend with this team. I suspect some input was already given for last night and that possibly we've already seen what is now going to be advocated.
I don't see last night being a Woody scheme. From reports Coffey had already started to have input.
Last night the Oil got stable goaltending. The d-corp notably Nurse Ceci was great (only 1 breakdown on PK where Ceci got out of position net front defending).
Vegas exploited coverage gaps, bad decisions, and a coach that didn't move off of a massive outscoring mismatch.
