what exactly does Zegras do that gives off those vibes? Can you give actual evidence? What does he do differently than other players dont?
Evidence? I get a vibe from a player, this isn't a CSI investigation.

Most people forgot they even exist. I mean even when they won a cup and had Selanne, Getzlaf etc. on the team, no one really talked about them.

I mean what's there to talk about? They've been a budget team for a long time, nothing exciting to talk about.

I remember the ducks slightly more than i do the islanders, and i always forget the islanders exist.

Luneau needs to work out because Gaucher and Warren don't look great from 2022, guys they took after Mintyukov. Tracey and Perreault weren't horrible picks on draft day but they just didn't progress, that happens.

I just don’t really see it with their rebuild to be honest. They’ve drafted super high several times now and these guys just don’t seem to be progressing as much as you’d hope for. Mctavish and Carlsson aren’t bad players, they are good young players, but I’m just not seeing the elite wow factor a lot of other young guys around the league do. They are just solid. Their defenseman are also solid too but nothing crazy or that jump out at you. They just don’t seem to be developing them into elite talents, but of course that could change fast.

I wish they’d go back to be the mighty ducks of Anaheim instead of just “the ducks”.

It would be cool for ALOT of us.

Who’s the top D right now. Lacombe? Lots of talent but need someone to solidify themselves as a stud on the backend.

Dostal I’ve seen enough to know that he is a future stud in net, then again goalies are voodoo but eye test and stats seem to agree.

Forward core looks solid with potential, but once again need someone to step up and solidly themselves as cornerstones. Lots of candidates.

They tend to get overlooked since they don’t have the recognizable players like other teams from not drafting BPA. For example, they took Mactavish and Sennecke who were huge riser during their respective draft. The ducks don’t have anyone exciting like Jack Hughes or Connor Bedard in other rebuilding teams that immediately attract attention.

The way they keep reaching on their top-3 picks that should've gone 5-10 spots below, their rebuild is going to be longer and more painful than it needs to be.

The more teams are added, the harder it's going to be to rebuild. You need good coaching, which the Ducks are not getting. On top of that, you need either that guaranteed superstar (usually a 1st overall pick) or to sign/trade for one (good GM). Outside of coaching choices, Verbeek has been an OK GM. The Ducks also have some of the worst lotto luck. Through their whole rebuild, they've never moved up and didn't drop only once when picking in single digits.

Ducks have 3 top 5 picks, and two of those years were some of the worst years to have that pick. Carlsson was a top 2/3 pick, that was a good year to have a top pick. The other two were McTavish (Covid year so scouting reports for most prospects were a year out of date) and Sennecke (where there was what, 10 players in the same tier after #1?).

Verbeek's agent moves have been fine. Not super stars, but effective players. Vatrano and Gudas were good signings (even with Gudas not looking good this year). Strome has been solid, maybe a little overpaid. Killorn is overpaid and the big problem is Cronin refusing to move him off a line with Carlsson (those two have zero chemistry). The Gauthier trade is looking like his best move.

The biggest issue is the coaching staff. Special teams are terrible. Offense is horrible. Defense has gone from historically bad to just one of the worst in the NHL.

Verbeek can turn this rebuild around this summer with two things... the most important is a good coach that will get the most out of this team. Get someone proven, Ducks don't need to spend several more years going through failed first time coaches. The other is a lot harder... try signing a big time FA. If Rantanen or Marner make it to FA, they'd be great adds, even with an overpay. But it's not likely to happen. Ducks could also go the trade route. I would even move the 1st+ (assuming it's in the 5-7 range) for a good young forward.

Because talking about rebuilds is one of most boring things in hockey. Watch out, they will be so great in a few years!!!!- OK, we will talk about them when they will...

Although I guess it's some way to keep fans interest in a bad teams.

Anaheim went to crap at the 2017 Las Vegas Expandion draft summer..

They lost Theodore and draft capital …. When Kevin Bieska would not lift his no trade protection ….. Nobody was going to select that wannabe use-to-be soft player anyway!

Bieska crippled the franchise and now irritates the masses as ex use to be tough guy that went to California and became soft irrational calli- boy!!! 🧒

His lowest point as a tv hockey analyst ( many low points) is when he did a skit where he was talking to a cut out cardboard of tough guy Brian Burke ( ex GM of Vancouver /Anahiem /Toronto) on the hockey panel show.

Hard for Anaheim to have a successful rebuild ….. when that soft west coast entitled attitude is so ingrained into the fabric of the whole organization.
