I don't mind the Kris Knoblauch move. Sounds like he's a coach who's been talked about as a coach in the NHL for some time. Stauffer raves about him. But, Paul COFFEY? This is a bad move! What pro experience does he have? This guy had more experience running a car dealership!!

Woody has had poor season starts every year he's been here. Look at his cumulative record before NYE in seasons. 22-23 it was 20-16-2 Now this season a dismal 3-9-1 This adds up to 23-25-3 in his teams early season starts. Thats not pretty.

What it indicates is that the Woody alleged success is not due to Woody at all. Its due to McDRai always heating up in back half of seasons and vast majority of Woodys record is in that last half time frame. It was the perfect time for a coach to come in. Bozo the clown could have a great record at phases where McDrai heat up.

The meaningful variable is McDrai heating up.

Hasn't every coach during the Mcdavid era have poor starts. We're usually an average to bad team until January then we go on a ridiculous heater to finish the season.

I agree with you. I was hopeful about Jeff Jackson but this just seems like more of the same.
Like I said before, maybe it works out but you can't tell me that Knoblauch and Coffey were hired because they were the most qualified candidates. It's just more "comfortable" hires with no accountability to be had.

I like Woody, but this guy was just throwing sh** against the wall this year. Systems changes, did not have more than 1 system in games, blendering lines like a tool, benching rookies after one mistake, etc.

You can't make 5 changes in one day. Unfortunately for Woody, he is one that needed to be made. There are many more. GM, Goalie coach, players.

This is weird. I just saw the Hartford Wolf Pack play a couple of weeks ago. They had been outshot 24-6 by the end of the second period and looked absolutely lost out there. One game, I know, but for me personally it's pretty bizarre that my NHL team is now coached by the guy who led one of the worst hockey performances I've seen in ages.

This is pretty much spot on. Whats the teams record during games when McDrai have 1 or less points each or our PP was under 20%. We had our best success under Woody when he first got hired and rolled 4 lines with everyone buying in. Now it's just hope the PP scores and run our top 6 into the ground.
