I would have been fine with Manson & Schwartz going but I still blame the architect of the roster first and foremost.

How Holland still has his job after this shit roster he's assembled is just beyond failure with ownership. But one thing I've learned over my 20+ years working in the public sector is management protects management.

Man they can do better than Coffey. I like the guy, he seems intelligent, but the experience isn’t there and there’s nothing to indicate he’s forward thinking.

It’s one of those things I’d just cross the hell out of my fingers hoping he happens to be a decent GM. We’ve been banking a lot on hope lately..

There was a leak on Twitter that this was already decided after the San Jose game, but that leak also said Holland is out too. They just didn't want to do it on the road trip.

Been needing a goalie + top pairing Dman for 10yrs now.

He’ll probably resurface in SJ like Koala did in LA. Get them playing a 1-3-1 like Koala and resurrect the California dominance.

It really sucks that he and Manson just could not implement any kind of defensive system because he did bring positives to the table offensively.

Hated the lazy starts though.

When you lose 8-1 on opening night, in part that has to be because your coach did not have the team ready to play.

Edmonton hasn't been ready at the drop of the puck since mcdavid has been an oiler ffs, so your telling me it's been what 6 plus coaches now who couldn't prepare the team?

As much as I feel bad for Jay and was hoping it would work for him because there are positives with him ... I also honestly don't think he was ever going to impliment a defensive system here that would work.

He's a young coach and I think he and Manson were trying to figure out how to play NHL level D on the fly, and that wasn't going to work for us.

He wasn't the main problem. Holland completely sabotaged him with a roster missing at least 2 impactful dmen and starting caliber goaltending. I didn't like the way he deployed the minutes, specifically how he gave the bottom six <10 mins and how he constantly just ran McDrai, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if that has been requested by McDrai themselves.

He'll be back as a coach, sooner than later. I still think this organization gives coaches direct orders to wear kiddie gloves when dealing with McDrai.

Fair enough, but you have to admit, this team under Woodcroft this year looked probably as bad defensively as any Oiler team since the Dallas Eakins era.

Seemed fine last year. And the year before, the year before that and the year before that. Teams has some weaknesses like just about every team but those should be apparent in the playoffs not game 13.

Yeah this honestly sucks to see even though I didn’t like him as a coach. Easier when the coach is a twat. But there is genuine kindness to Jay.

His record was great, but his downfall is refusing to hold players accountable. He will learn and be back in the league as a coach
